That is the face of CUTENESS!!  She is looking more like her daddy very picture, does she act like you at least?

My mom says yes.  We seem to butt heads already, so I'm also going with yes.  She's fairly independent and stubborn.  Those words may also have been used to describe me.

We first stopped at Kompetative Edge, a tri store in Denver where I scored a TYR carbon tri top and tri bottom for $25 each!!!!!!!!!!!! Those normally go for $125 each!!!!!!! I also found more Powerbar Perform. Yay!

Then we went to an outdoor mall (killing time before dinner with my Dad) where I went in to William Sonoma (not tri related but I love to cook too) and some other stores. While we were walking along widow shopping I look in to a window and low and behold it's a Skirt Sports store!!!!!!!!!!!!! SCORE!!!!!!!!!! I didn't know those existed! So we went in and I got a running skirt/short and a bike skirt/capri both at 30% off! Good stuff!

We also went in to the Apple store where I looked at the Mophie case to extend the battery life on my iphone. The problem is that with the Mophie case on in won't fit in my  (or any) arm band. So the extended battery life won't help if I can't take it running! I suppose it would be helpful for long rides though.

Oh, and so we were at dinner with my dad (great cajun place btw) and the hostess who is seating us notices my O'side finisher jacket. She then asked me if it was for a REAL Ironman or a shorter one. Ummmm. So I kinda laughed and told her it was a half but that it took me over 7 hours so it felt pretty real to me. DH said I handled it well...

Looking forward to this weekend. I get to see one of my hockey boys AND hopefully get to meet Erin in person!

Sounds like you will be having excellent back-to-back weekends!  Congrats on scoring all the awesome goodies last weekend!

Okay... I know I'm not right in the head, but does signing up to do a 10km race this weekend make me crazy?

I was debating doing the 10miler (which Tony's signed up for) but I thought that might be a tad too crazy for 2 weeks post-IM distance...

Total score!  I really love the SkirtSports stuff.  I have a lot of their tops.  The runner's dream long sleeve is one of my favorites.  Their fabrics just feel so nice against the skin.

Go for it! I agree that 10 miles might be pushing it, but 6 miles could feel really good.

LOL Notice that I just respond emotionally, without asking any details.

You might also notice that I signed up for a Thanksgiving half marathon without asking anyone's opinion. I want to do it. Logic be damned.

ETA: This Spinning finisher medal(Seriously) seals the deal for me. My favorite race medal is from the Run Toto Run race -- it has a spinning tornado on it. I will keep that medal forever. The others, meh, maybe, maybe not. But I love that tornado.

This is why I workout so much.

I don't know, I have worked out 3 hours a day, 5 days a week training for an Oly tri, and didn't lose one pound. I must have been training too long-slow-distance.

I have lots of random thoughts, most from my own experience, some from coaching, some from sci studies.

People who have been successful in losing lots of weight and keeping it off got there by many different means, and stay there by many different means. But it is generally true that incremental lifestyle changes that are kept work better than rapid weight loss through drastic change.

It is really hard being a post-menopausal woman trying to lose weight. I don't know this personally; it's just true. So kudos.

Have you/are you doing regular strength/weight training? If so, what kind? (Should I be looking at your logs?)

My experience is it's a lot easier to cut calories than burn them. Curious, for how many weeks did you average 15hr/wk for the Oly?

It's also easier to make one change at a time. Over time, that adds up to a lot of change and a lot of weight but it's done manageably.

Whole foods. Does what you're eating look like what it actually is? (exceptions can be made for strictly-training food, although, overall, most average triathletes are fuelling their workouts too much). If not, what are the processed foods you're eating? Can you cut one out per week (or have one day where you can eat them)?

Listen lady, you are lucky you have us spelling your name correctly. One step at a time

Poor Janyne...I've been messing that up for months.

I've known people for years that continue to call me Jane -- people just don't see that first N and completely miss that its JaNyne like Janine Turner or Janeane Garofalo.  Eventually you just have to let it go ;-)

Here's a story for you.  My maiden name was Jones.  I got used to spelling my first name j-a-n-y-n-e and then saying Jones.  So I got a piece of mail send to Janyne Joans.  How do you misspell that last name?!  Yikes!

OK, one more name story.  I lived here in North Carolina when I got married.  A lot of North Carolinians drop there middle name and replace it with their maiden name when they get married.  People asked me are you going to keep your maiden name?  I'm like, it's JONES.  What's to keep?  I mean, if it was a unique name, maybe but it's a dime a dozen.  Maybe I feel that way because my dad's name is ... wait for it ... John.  Talk about a generic name :-(besides, I like Michelle better anyway).

I don't have any troubles with my first name - but very, very few people have been able to pronounce my last name on the first go around.  It gets to be somewhat entertaining to hear what people come up with!

Near the end of one of my long runs, I noticed my left hip aching. There was a slight pop with each step. The hip was sore for 2 days after the run.
