Stace Face -- I had a homesick Aussie offer me $10 for the (half-eaten) box of Nutri Grain I brought to the swim today. I said NO, but I did let him lick the inside of my goggles for me.

Wondermoose -- I love you all. Such a beautiful family!

Watermelon, hmmm. We get so much of it here all the time--I do like it very much, but it's just not that interesting to me. Now, ice cream, to be exact, frozen (probably never seen a cow) soft-serve dessert ... that's my ticket!

That pic - screensaver right there.

Ocean City Beach Patrol tri is August 4 while I am on vacation.  It's a sprint.  I have an 11 mile run on the plan the same day....would need to rewrite that weeks plan.  Suggestions?

Where is your vacation?  If you can make it logistically, DOOO EEETTT!  I don't think that moving the long run will be a problem in the end.

July 25 to August 4.  The race is August 3 on the far end of Ocean City. Rain date is August 4 (the day we leave)  The link on the OCBP page isn't working so I asked them to email me a link to sign up.  Few years ago I did a 1 mile ocean swim race with them and the sign up was very low key day of event for about $20 so I am not anticipating a high cost tri.

The other races I want to do there are either late June (Assault on Assateague sprint tri  right at the campground I stay at when we're there) and the Seagull Century in October which I always wind up signing up for a half marathon in November and can't do.....

Oh!  I want to do the Seagull Century!  I don't think that it works with B2B this year though.  Maybe next year.

Heck yeah! In my opinion, it's worth moving things around a little to do.

Good news!

I was thinking about your bike situation on Friday when I took out my cross bike and I do think that a touring bike might not be a bad idea at all.  It's not bad to have a different bike for a different purpose if you can afford it.  It's also super handy if one bike is in the shop ;-)

Just have to convince my husband we can afford it.

Finally managed to get my internet connection up and running but I have noticed a very big difference in the speed of this site when I access it on my laptop via internet explorer as opposed to on my ipad using safari. On the laptop a few times I have ended up closing it down and walking away especially when trying to enter stuff in my log.

I have been enjoying a couple of days of law and accounting classes - i could so easily become a full time student if somebody would continue to pay me my existing wage to do it

YANTI - such wonderful news. i am so very excited for you even though it means another thing on your plate, but sometimes things that we really want to do and love to do can be more recharging than draining and I hope this is the case for you. Maybe next time you go swimming you can take the empty nutri-grain bag with you and let the Aussie lick the inside of it.

JO - i hope that you are still enjoying the peace and quiet with your family being away and arent missing them too much. I love curly wirlys one of may favourites. Ok being relistic anything that is covered in half decent chocolate and doesnt have nuts in it is a favourite.

JEN - glad that you, E and your bike are all ok, love your photo.

KATE - sorry about your mum being a stuborn lady, maybe its a characteristic that she has past on to you and that is why you stick things out and acheive the things that you do.

KRISTEN - sorry about your rat friend but I must say that I was very glad to be past those pages. Rats, mice and moths (yes moths) freek me out. I can cope with the rats and mice if I must but moths I really cant cope with.

I hope that everyone is having a great week and that you are enjoying your summer sun - except for Aussie Jo cause I know its cold here.

Totally serious here, gang, I think we should get together and do the Seagull Century!  I've long had this bookmarked in my mind but didn't do it for one reason or another.  Sounds like something we could plan for next year since most folks' races/seasons/vacations are already planned.

I've been in limbo. It's the middle of summer and NOTHING is going on. We thought about doing a tri this last weekend, but entry plus sitter $ was going to be almost $300...for a 500/9/2 race an hour away. No thanks. Now, without traveling with kids and one of us solo racing, there are no races for about 6 weeks. So I've just been going through the motions of "training".

This morning I finally set my next race! Wheeee Laughing

I must admit that it is not that bad or difficult giving oneself injections twice a day.

Just sayin'.

My sweet mad polymath! I was just wondering where you were today, and what's up with your magical niece.

I like needles, but I can't imagine it's pleasant.

Yowza, needles.

I am such a baby. I don't even think I could handle poking myself in the eye every day (putting in contacts)

My niece is doing fine.    She just got a new boyfriend.      There is a learning curve  when dealing with the life of a 19 year old female.   I have zero references to go on.   I manage.

The  B-12 shots do the job.

Yip yip yip

Sounds like a good time to do some SBR time trials for baseline to measure later progress and perhaps guide training ...

"And probably not the smartest thing I've ever done, but hey - no one ever accused me of being smart. ;"

So I was just reading through the logs of one of our podmates and came across this ^^.  I laughed my head off, because many of you will remember Jen saying something quite similar (in fact, it is still quoted in Genie Chris' log).  It seems us Manatees are all cut from the same cloth....
