I like to think I have some connections with the big guy (else why would I still be alive?).  I'm on this.  We'll chat about it tonight.  She's strong - were stronger together.  Let's get her through this.

We have found that being on a team or having the feeling of being on a team helps those that have been through a trauma recover more quickly.  The best thing we can do is to let her know that she is on a team with a ton of heart.  Let's keep reminding her.

Stacie,

Thinking about you and sending you good wishes from Florida.

That is such a nice idea to wear her number!

Trixie, Kelly and I are going to plaster her number across our ample bosoms this weekend for HHH.

Or maybe we will just body mark ourselves with it. Who knows.

We are pulling for you, girl. Kiss

I'll wear your number too Staci....as I'm drafting.

Ok, just kidding.  I will wear your number but I'll behave.

Keep giving those nurses a run for their money.

skarl - 2008-06-11 3:30 PM Her CdA bib # is 1945.  It's been suggested that people racing this weekend wear her # (somewhere hidden so as not to confuse the race people) to show her some BT love and support.

I was going to leave it as a surprise, but I will be wearing 1945 this week at my race.  I plan to write in on my leg (cover it with my tri shorts).  I'll get a pic at the end of the race and post it.....

Maybe we could even start a new thread for it?  Or this thread is good too.

Got to look out for my BT and fellow Colorado peeps (Colorado is home away from home for me)

Being a veteran hospital stayer myself, I have lots of great ideas to keep you entertained in the hospital.

5.  Have someone help you escape for a couple of hours.  When you come back and the nurses ask where you went, say you went shopping...or biking.  whatev.

4.  Give wrong answers on purpose during cognitive evaluations.  Watch the reactions.

3.  If you're wearing a pulse / ox monitor, rip it off so it looks like you flatlined.  Watch and wait.

2.  When the nurses tell you, "Don't worry hon, we'll get you back to normal,"  tell them about a normal week of ironman training.

1.  I never had this, but I think you should get guitar hero.  Everyone would come party in  your room.  Don't worry, there's a computer version, so you just need a lap top.

Any updates today on how Stacie is doing?

Does she have access to a prayer pager? They are often available through a church or the hospital. We could post the pager number online. Everyone who calls enters their zip codes. That way Stacie could know how many people love and are praying for her.

There are updates posted in her inspires in her log, by Odanelli ( Ocky, swgtri's husband ).

She's improving, but not out of the woods yet.

Keep the prayers rolling!

UPDATE 1534

Well, things are pretty rough right now. Her pain level is up to a 7. She had also indicated that her hearing was a bit muffled due to the throbbing. With that, they bumper her CAT scan schedule up and were wheeling her in as I left.

The Dr.'s face a very tough situation of balancing between pain meds,a dn letting her body do some work. The answer to the pain, is more meds. For Stacie, more meds means dangerously respirations. Ie respirations in the 6-8 range. That low, and that is where the CO2 exchange rate does not happen efficiently. Allow that to get lower, she could aspirate or, there could be a failure. Either way, the situation would very rapidly become more problematic.

For right now, we are waiting on scan results. I'll keep ya posted.

-Ocky

Keep the prayers coming people, she's NOT out of the woods yet.

UPDATE FROM OCKY:

2030

Stacie is out of surgery... and doing well. If even spoke to her for about 10 seconds. She sounds like her 6 year old self again!

Her current pain is at a 3. Provided, she just came out of post op, but she sounded great, and seems very alert.

The Dr.'s feel that they probally got 99.9% of the clots.

For right now, the surgery is successful, and there is a lt more optimism back in the air.

I'll post more in the morning.
