Youth really is wasted on the young, isn't it?

My first event was a duathlon, father's day 2005 when I was 37.

49.  It was two years after my open heart surgery and my cardiologist was encouraging me to do less weightlifting and more "aerobic stuff"

25. I'm now 28. I had wanted to do a triathlon since much younger than that (even used to set them up in the neighborhood as a child, using my parents' pool), but I had never swam, biked, or ran before so I wasn't sure I would actually be able to "do" it. I'm so glad I decided to take the risk.

This year at 46, wanted to for a few years but swim kept me away. After second knee surgery decided to cut back on running. Glad I gave it a shot and swim is coming along. Kind of enjoying not beating my body up so bad with all of the running. The swimming makes me feel more fit all around, upper body as well as lower.

Its been 6 months since I started and I think its one of the best decisions I have ever made. I have been a serious cyclist for the past 9 years and was starting to get bored with it last year.

Let's just say I am NOT bored anymore.

At age 16 my swim coach (who is an IMer) convinced me to do a sprint triathlon over the summer. I trained lightly for it, an afterwards decided I loved it and have been focusing on tri training since then! I'm 18, and will be competing in my first Oly in just under two weeks.

At 26 I started running then decided to give tris a shot a few months after that.  I completed my first tri in June....a few weeks after my 27th birthday

I decided on my 39th birthday that I wanted 140.6 in my 40th year. I am 40 now. It's my midlife crisis, and I am fulley embracing it.
