OK, my shorts and shirt didn't make it through the weekend, so it is time for replacement. Two questions?

1) Which brands are people happy with?

2) Trisuit or shorts/shirt?

Thanks for all the kindness and well wishes.

Depending on the length of the race is what will determine whether I wear a trisuit or top and shorts... generally it comes down to whether I think I'm going to have to use a bathroom during the race or not.  Anything Olympic and under usually calls for the onesie, but for HIM/IM distance I like 2 pieces.  Struggling out of and back into a gross sweaty onesie (particularly if trying to perform such a feat in a port-a-loo) is NOT fun.

The trisuit I'm partial to is made by Sugoi and the two piece I WANT to get is by Betty Designs.  Though for now I use a pair of Pearl Izumi tri shorts that I LOVE for longer distance rides, and have worn a TYR tri top with it which has the pockets on the back for putting my sport chews into.

I think you should go with the one by Betty Designs, Chris.

Floral Burst Tri Top

That would look SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO great with your eyes

Yes it's either the above option or a banana hammock. Those are your best bets.

Hi Manatees -so many things to catch up on, and I'm sorry if I forget anyone!

TJ - SO happy that your son made his connecting flight, and I hope that his bike makes it with him to his destination

Chris - I'm glad you're okay after your crash on the bike, the bike can be replaced - you're much more important!

Kate - Shanti sounds like she was one of the special ones, and I'm sorry you had to let her go.

Yanti - um... nice 'work' with the strength and sport workouts lately.

Mel - I don't know what to say other than to offer my thoughts and well-wishes to you and to the families of those that passed away.  This kind of news is so saddening when juxtaposed against all the good things that training and endurance sports do for a person.

Kirstin - I can't wait to read all about your race report from one of my all-time favourite venues and races.

To all the other Manatees - I hope you had a fabulous weekend whether you were racing or not!  (I need to go read Salty's RR to see if she hurled!!)

FYI - I'm going to suggest NOT taking the 6am flight from NY to Chicago on a Monday morning then going right to work.

YIKES. BAMF right there!

Lots of coffee today.  And as a bonus, the Red Bull girls were out at lunch giving away free samples of their new flavours.  The lime is pretty good - woot!

The 5km thing tonight is going to suck big hairy donkey balls... I'm going to be so freakin' tired after work, but I paid for the d a mn thing so I might as well suck it up and get 'er done.  Besides, there's burgers and beer at the end.

Burgers and beer sound like fine motivation to me!!  Good luck, rock it, girl!!

Yay for alcohol as motivation!  Laughing

Busy weekend. Basically checked out for two days. Family get-together, long ride with DH, afternoon at pool with friends...lots of fun but not much down time.

I hope we get to do these rides almost every weekend. Lots of fun and they make me feel quite accomplished.  Yesterday was 49 miles over the mountain and....well, back over the mountain. Laughing We're in monsoon season so the start was really humid and DH really wasn't feeling it, but we got to our turn-around and he said he was okay to go back over. Yay!

Taking today off the bike and just doing a run tonight.

Here's a couple of pics from yesterday-

Originally posted by melbo55 Sad news.  Someone did pass away at the race yesterday, which was my strong suspicion as DH and I patched and pasted together our individual sightings and experiences of the day.  Not a lot has been published about it yet, including age of the fellow, but here's the little news snippet:

http://www.whptv.com/news/local/story/Coroner-investigating-death-during-Catfish/g6qu_qxRQ0uSWWOA91S5qg.cspx?rss=50

Sadly I also got word from friends doing Musselman that someone died Saturday during the Mini Mussel on the bike leg and another racer was seriously injured on Sunday, also on the bike leg (edited to add my friends weren't hurt, it was people we don't know): http://www.fingerlakesdailynews.com/news/details.cfm?clientid=16&id=85227#.UeNO7W3l31I

That's so sad! Peace for their families and friends.
