42 | Subject: RE: Racing Manatees - Better Together in 2022 So I finished my first marathon. Race time was 4:57:04. Was hoping to be closer to 4:30/45, but still happy with this time. There are some pretty decent hills in the middle miles and that is what killed me. That and running a 2 hour half last weekend may have had something to do with it. I finished 3 out of 5 in my age group. |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Racing Manatees - Better Together in 2022 Congrats! I have nothing to report for this weekend except that I somehow survived 2700 yards of kicking at Master's swim. I have been going to swim practices on and off since about age 9, and can honestly say that I have never done (or been asked to do) that much kicking in one practice! Still waiting on my bank card (somehow, my bank forgot to order the replacement even though they told me they did when I called to cancel the card) so I am still 1-2 weeks from being able to enter anything. |

That's a lot of kicking! I'm glad that your legs didn't fall off! I had that happen recently -- bank did not send new card. I contacted them and they said they'd send one. It never arrived. I contacted them a second time and got the card pretty promptly. I think they just dropped the ball after the first call. |

So if you record the workout on your Garmin device, it can be imported into BT. BT stuff cannot be imported into Garmin, at least not to the best of my knowledge. |

First off Sotty...congratulations on completing your first Marathon. You are now in the 1% of people who have accomplished that. I wouldn't worry too much about your time. I was almost 50 minutes over my goal time at my first marathon. The first one is a totally new experience and you don't really know what to expect or what you are doing. Just getting through it is the important thing. After you know that you can get through then the shift is to see if you can get through it faster. Karen...that is a lot of kicking. At Tri camp one of the guys was complaining about something like 600yd kicking. He said that it was going to ruin his run he had last that day. I got out and raced at a 5K on Saturday. My good 5K races have been 17:50's over the past 6-7 since I started Triathlon. Based on the marathon and 2.6 mile races I did in the super shoes last month I thought that I would be about 30 seconds faster in nthe 5K. I set a goal time at 7:20 and didn't race by the clock. I raced as I would if I wasn't wearing a watch going off feel. My official time was 17:13. That was my fastest 5K in about 2 decades. So...it looks like my goal pace for the run at Duathlon Nations is going to be a 36:30 for the opening 10K and an 18:15 for the closing 5K. Now I just have to start training for the bike. Ha..ha..ha.. Actually, the bike is probably going to be just fine. I have been at it for 3 months and while I am not the best bike shape I have ever been in I will be ready to race. I just have to ride conservative and run smart. |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: Racing Manatees - Better Together in 2022 Everyone has been invited to the Multisport Club -- Manatee Multisport Club with Teddy and Zoe. Teddy and Scot need to either follow me back or go to https://www.strava.com/clubs/team-teddy-zoe and request to join. As a reminder, our Strava Tri Club is at https://www.strava.com/clubs/manatees. Scot, you'll need to request to join that one as well. P.S. Kevin was a tester on the multipsort club. He was excited about it so I didn't plan to kick him out unless someone you guys decide to vote him off the island. Edited by jmkizer 2022-04-11 12:35 PM |

Speaking of Garmin, is anyone using the Fenix 6 by chance? I am looking to upgrade from a Fitbit and am considering this as a replacement (maybe the 6s pro?). Also considering the Instinct 2 that recently came out, although I am not sure if I like the black/white screen vs color. |
