WOW! A lot of people are racing this weekend!!

I'm not racing per se, but I'm doing a 50k Charity ride for ADA Tour de Cure. I am slightly bummed that I couldn't do the 100k ride (lack of training for long distances, so I rather be safe than sorry than to re-injure my back again for going too long without training).

Good luck EVERYONE!!!  I would love to be part of this group again, after all I will be doing my first Triathlon! I'm not too sure if I will be part of another group as well. Maybe a mild one, where I can easily catch up on the pages. LOL!

Me!!!  Go!St Louis half marathon on Sunday.  Right now the weather looks like it's going to be just about perfect.  I'm hoping to PR, which I think is doable.

I'm not but the hubby is doing his first race of the season.  We are both very excited to see how well his coach and training plan is paying off. His HR has dropped considerably and he's cut 30 seconds off his 10K pace!   A friend of ours is letting him borrow her race wheels to collect some power data. I'll have something to share with all you wattage junkies! 

I am super excited to be there for him.  Usually we race together so there isn't anyone at the finish line for him and he is always there for me. Now it is my turn to cheer like crazy and take tons of pictures. 

And in honor of my husband I will drop my IQ by 50 points and repeat his favorite quote, "NIPPLES RULE!"

sorry i couldn't find the one from savage.  i did notice that they are now calling the race a 70.0 and a 30.0.  funny.  and to bad rob has come and gone for the day.  he loves this image more than most of us.

That is why you don't wear white tops!   Lesson learned.   And we really don't need to share the photo from Savage, I'm sure everyone got the point  (pun intended)

Speaking of Savage, it has become so popular they extended the race to be a weekend event.  The international (30miler) is one day and the half is the next.  Finally learned the difference between an Olympic and an International - bike distances.  Apparently an olympic distance is set where as the international is somewhere around the 25 mile distance but not exact.  Learn something new every day.


Edit for clothing comment,  that top was brand new when I wore it and I only got one more race out of it before the seams fell apart. Therefore I don't recommend ZOOT tri tops!  That is also the famous SEAWEED MONSTER top!!!  I'll bet I could still find pieces of seaweed in it.

yeah i noticed that to.  pretty cool.  i know you're ramped up for canada but have you given any thought to savage in 2011?  you'll be recovered enough be then for the 30.0!

Don't know about Savage next year.  My Doug is thinking about doing the half so I'll want to be on the Westernport wall for him!  Why, are you racing Savage next year?  Maybe we can talk Tony and Sam into it as well.

Roni, help me out here. I think you need to post your old avatar photo of your hot abs so the boys will be distracted.

savage.  i'd like to do that race some day. we'll see about next year.  doug is gonna do the half that soon after IMC.  damn he's the man. 

Another rite of passage today.....my first flat.

At least it was on a short run around the neighborhood and I was less than a block from home....so, it was not so bad.

But, I have not changed a flat on the rear wheel before, so this might be fun.  At least I will have the experience before the tri on Saturday.....in case I might need to use what I will learn later today when I fix this flat.  I am not going to time myself on this one.....

As a veteran with 1 solid year under my belt, I have learned to not run with my tires. I get flats all time from it......

Ha I feel your pain. Once you get the flat mastered, you are set. Wait until you start changing tires from your trainer tire to your outside tire a couple times a week.

Doug's not doing Canada only me.  He might race in 2012, therefore Savage would be his A race for next year.

I have learned that practice makes perfect!!! I've had two spells of consecutive flats... One in the front (3 in a row, luckily 2 of 'em found at home) -- those ended up being the result of a little piece of glass or sand embedded under my rim tape. And I just had my 3rd on the rear tire (2 on a ride, 1 at home). Looks like my tire is shot and there was a little bit of wire poking through.

I just set up a patching party and patched about 4 tubes. Now I'm off to the LBS cuz I'm out of patches. Curious how all of you feel/handle riding on patched tubes. I think I will carry them as spares but not rely too heavily on them. I have about 9 tubes right now needing patching -- all small holes. I'll pick up more tubes too, and I already have a newer tire to throw on. I actually was riding on my OLD tires that I save for winter on the trainer. We had such a lovely winter that I was outside a lot and should not have been riding on that old tire, and it finally caught up with me.

Finally... TRACY... Honestly, that picture in the white top looks good!! I would be thrilled if that was the worst of it, LOL! I will not post my pics here -- my problems are much more severe!!! I did buy a pic from my latest half-mary because I thought  it made my arms look strong (I was whooping for the camera). If I get brave I'll scan and post but for now I shall stay shy.  

One thing we can count on is Tracy not being shy.  She can take it and dish it out with the best of this group.  Ohh and yeah the white tops are great. .

Come on Kyla, toughen up and get that pic posted. Some of the people on here have too great an imagination and you wouldn't want them to blow things out of proportion.
