I thought after two trips already that I wouldn't have as much to want shots of...So wrong! These were just on my phone camera. I might take DH's "serious" Nikon next time to see what it can do. Erin those are amazing pictures! |

Elite 4435 | Subject: RE: Mucho Mental Manatee Mentors--CLOSED (Pop Tarts?) Dinner with Clayton Fettell last night - what a humble and lovely guy. His parents own a pool - hence the swimming ability. He started swimming at 6 due to being diagnosed asthmatic something that still psychlogically interferes with his performance. His mum and sister are Celiac so he lives a diet of low carb high fat and protein (hallelujah, he agreed to come on Vinnie's podcast) He admitted stepping up to IM full this year was a mistake he's not ready. He's totally intimidated by the guys he calls his heroes. Hes not ready to take them on yet. 70.3 will be his distance for now though one day he'll win Kona. His coach recommended he have a day or two a week of silence - and he does, where he doesn't talk at all. He said he needs it to silence the noise. Amazing guy. Chatting to him after his speech he said he just doesn't have the self belief right now. I told him to come spend some time with Macca - get some arrogance to rub off and he'll do well. He knows while he thinks like this he's already lost the race before he starts. I'm happy to be in his group of 'people' now! In other stalking news Terenzo won Mandurah 70.3 - sigh. Clayton and Terenzo are racing each other at Shepparton 70.3 next week - Terenzo may be fatigued enough for Clayton to take it. Clayton always first out of the water and a strong biker -but can't outrun T. I have a media pass for the event - oh HAPPY DAYS |

I have a media pass for the event - oh HAPPY DAYS Yes close pack for the swim as none of the 'big hitter's of the swim were there - clayton, PJ Andy Potts etc. Terenzo killed it on the bike though. My pal Tim Reed would have been in contention but a rear brake issue then a flat - DNF. My buddy Jason - got badly cut on the swim on his hand DNF couldn't ride. Other friends finished - albeit slower than they liked due to the intense heat on the run. One did qualify for the WORLDS so he's a happy camper! |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Mucho Mental Manatee Mentors--CLOSED (Pop Tarts?) Gloom, despair and agony on me manatees! My glute was as bad as it ever has been and I ended up having to DNF my half. I have been running with hamstring/ glute discomfort for months, but this was pain. I was unable to run for more than a few minutes at a time and felt like I was doing harm to my muscle, so after the first 6.5 mile loop I made the hard decision to call it a day. I have never not finished something I started, so this was a really tough call to make. But I could not run and mentally, once that became apparent, I checked out. I could not stomach walking the last lap. The really pissy thing is I felt really strong other than the searing pain . My heart rate was low, my legs - ok, the right leg, felt lively and I was ready to have a great run. I guess I should have known something was going to go wrong today when I got out of the gulf and noticed I was bleeding from a cut I somehow got on the TOP of my foot. How the hell I cut myself on top of my foot while swimming is a mystery and was apparently a bad omen. . One last thing, I may or may not be a bit tipsy right now, so please disregard anything above that does not make sense |

Master 3870 | Subject: RE: Mucho Mental Manatee Mentors--CLOSED (Pop Tarts?) Finally got out for a real mtn bike ride this morning. Dirty Harry is officially broken in!!! We had a great time...and I realize I make bike sound effects and talk to myself as I ride. Pics of the "easy" part of the trail. I wish I had taken a couple of the second half of the ride. Some of it was pretty crazy...well, for this out-of-practice rider at least
