gotta run - 2010-09-26 7:17 PM oops. double post.

I had a close call with a calf cramp 5 miles into my 20 miler today, but it loosened up and I was able to run the rest of the course as planned. Woohoo!!

but you told a fib in your rr.  shame on you!

I think it was a message from Suzy, telling me that beer is not a proper recovery drink. I went and got some chocolate milk instead. Smile

Lots of solid racing out there this weekend!

DJ - Yikes, your little off-road adventure didn't sound fun at all! Good job keeping it in perspective and persevering. As you mentioned, you also got some great feedback for the bike/run balance. Nice job!

Glen - Huge accomplishment! Congrats on the Oly and sticking it out through the swim... good work measuring your effort on the bike and being disciplined to save some for the run. Well done!

Linda - 17 minute PR? And a 1:15 bike split? Smoking fast! Way to go!

Julia - Doesn't sound like the calf cramp had any long lasting effects... dropping the hammer to low 8/high 7 splits for the last quarter of the race? Very nice! And leave it to John to try to disprove your beer story... I believe you.

All your Augusta people: Doug, Tracy, John - great job guys and gal! You all did VERY well (and a special congratulations to Doug for the first HIM under the belt!), and represented the MG with pride! Rest up and recover! I'm looking forward to the RRs!

RR is up....

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=228433

This wraps up the racing season for me.  A couple of light weeks planned of some mountain biking, trail running, etc. and some time to get the rest of life caught up and then into "Out-season" training late October.

Once again....Nice job this weekend everybody!

fattyfatfat - 2010-09-26 7:37 PM what a great weekend.  very cool to finally meet tracy and doug.  good people man!  very cool to be racing with you,  awesome pr tracy and doug rockin' his first!!!!  it was a great day out there for sure.   its so damn cool hanging out and racing with you guys.  funny, both tracy and doug are taller than my mental picture of them.  can't wait for vegas and rev3.  i think the the thing i'm looking forward to the most at rev3 is spectating, throwing empty beer cans at you and if you're lucky being a sherpa. ha!

congrats glen!  can't wait to here about it!!!  awesome job dj!!  looking forward to hearing more.

alright, we just got home so i'll get a race report up asap.

edit.  these were posted in the georgia forum.  some cool pics from today.

Congrats again to all the MG peeps out there on first time accomplishments, PRs and just plain old solid racing.  A special hats off to the hubby for a super run in his 10k on Sat.  :-)

I had a great time this weekend watching the kids do some fun races.  My son loved his first cross attempt.  And even my daughter gave it a shot but we need to get the training wheels off!

Very much looking forward to Rev3 - not sure what we will be doing.  And John you should add babysitting to your list of activities that weekend if you are just throwing beer cans around.  My son is great at retrieving beer.  ;-)

velcromom - 2010-09-26 9:28 PM Congrats to all of this weekend's racer.....especially the Augusta long coursers!!!  Can't wait to read all of the RRs!

I had a blast today, despite some raging heat and delayed-by-fog start and errant water fowl in the ocean.....PR by 17 minutes, with a great (for me!) bike - 1:15 for the 25 miles!  10th in my AG, and won the side bet with Jeff - placed higher in my AG!

Off to collect my winnings.....Wink

Congrats Linda. Nice ride.

So signed up for 2 cross races, one's in 2 weeks.

Should be interesting.  At least they serve beer at all cross races...

Off to read some RR's.

Again awesome job everyone!

dalessit - 2010-09-25 6:19 PMDid my 10k today.  Gotta love the downhil.  finished in 43:58, a bit slower than I had hoped given the downhill section but still pretty happy.  I probably passed 20-30 people in the last 1.2 miles.

Pretty cool to be at the somewhat pointy end of the field, finished 84th out of 1188 people racing today and had all the space I needed.

Now if I could just figure out how to run off the bike I'd be doing ok.

Good luck Tracey, Doug and John tomorrow, have some fun and kick some butt.
Nice race man! Great pacing to make that kinda move at the end

For those that are committed, are most leaning towards the Oly or Half in May?  I am very close to having clearance from the flight deck just working on the details!

Also, working on my training schedule and trying to get everything to fit with my OS and still be ready for my A race next year.

dino and whoever else is thinking about the half,  you're going to have a huge training advantage in that several people in this group will be getting ready for it with you.  and come race day, man, its just cool as heck racing with each other.   just a thought.

Plus do you really want to spend all that money and effort getting down there to race an Oly???  I know Tony and Sam are doing it, but they are traveling machines...us Midwesterners are lucky to travel once or maybe twice a year....and you can sub 8 the run and kick the crap out me.... HIM BABY or bust.

Count me in for the HIM!

I have clearance to go, but I still have to convince my husband to bring the family down. Me: "It's family-friendly!" Him: "7 hours in the car? Not family-friendly." Good point!

"A" race is Ironman 70.3 Racine next year  ....   July   ..... so plenty of time for recovery.  I am just trying to figure out when I would have to kick out of the Out Season early to get ready for a HIM.  Thinking around the beginning of Feb to give myself 14 or 15 weeks to build some distance for a HIM.  That gives me about 15 weeks of out season training with a week of down time in between.

As Minnow states, that is my issue, it seems like a long way to travel for a Oly.  Sure would change the motivation for training this winter with a HIM that early in the season.

I haven't decided yet which I am doing.  I was leaning towards the Oly because last year I said after training through the winter for a HIM, I didn't want to do that again, it messed up all the early season cycling stuff I wanted to do.

I really need to get my 2011 figured out.

IMO if you want to travel to do the Oly I don't think there is anything wrong with that, it's actually the "big" race there that weekend, all the pro's will be doing the Oly.
