Originally posted by jbwills Stacey, I love the Sufferfest training videos. They will kick your butt every time. I used them with TrainerRoad, but you do not need to use TR to get the benefit from Sufferfest. Sufferfest does also have some training plans for different sports and different lengths. Hope this helps. Jonathan
Hey Jonathan Great to see you. How are you going? Thanks for all the great info everyone.

Stacey, I think your basic premise works, and is something I have been doing successfully over the past 6 months or so. Ride at a higher intensity more often. If you do it with videos on the trainer or out on the road, it is all good. I have found a group that I ride with that pushes me, because right now I am a "tweener". By that I mean that the fast group is a bit too much for me and the second group is a bit slow for me. So I push myself to stick with the "A" group as long as I can and then fall back to the second group near the end of the ride. You are probably challenged to find a group out by you, if I recall.

No matter what tools you use, try to commit to killing it out there on occasion and I promise you'll see some gains. Good on ya for looking for the improvements!!!!

That's the basic idea, pushing strong for awhile. Can be broken down in a number of ways. Various ways to monitor the intensity to target ares too.

I echo what was already said - push yourself and you will see improvements.

Jonathan mentioned the Sufferfest videos, and while I'm still scared of the SF videos, I keep saying I'm going to try them - and I will!  They're relatively inexpensive at $13 each, but I'm not sure if they will work on an iPad?  Maybe someone else can chime in on that if you're interested.

No experience of any kind with an iPad, but they have worked on my iPhone.

Sufferfest works on iPad, but first you have to DL them onto computer, then upload em to iTunes, then send to ipad.

Looks like a great course! And I love how the participants all look happy, at least in front of the camera.

Darren, I had seen you post some photos on Facebook this morning. They are beautiful! I don't know if I have ever been so drawn to do an ultra as I am now.

it looks amazing, you guys are so lucky to have Fall. We don't really get that here, well not the change of colour with the trees anyway.

I love how most of them can't stand up straight and most likely really want to shove the photographers camera down their throat but they are mostly still smiling.

WAKE UP POD PEEPS!

It's Thursday and I seem to be having a pretty good week. Funny thing..... though September and October I was "tri burnt out" but lately I feel like I have a fire burning in me again. Maybe it's because I registered for a few events for 2014 - or maybe because it's holiday time and I just keep window shopping for all the tri goodies I want to try In any case, tomorrow is Friday and then 2 days to play!!

For now, got a full day of work ahead. So GIT TO IT!

Have a great day all!

Wasup y'all!! I'm back!

Well my wife and I had a wonderful trip. We decided at the last minute not to go to Mexico. She wasn't very interested from the beginning and since this was supposed to be for her we changed the destination and went hiking in Arkansas instead. Had so much fun and the scenery was beautiful. I've taken most of November off like I said I would but I'm so ready to get started on my Ironman Training. Went for a run this morning and felt pretty good. I am starting back 100% next Monday. Time to lose this weight I've gained over the last 3 weeks!

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll try to catch up over the next few days. Were only on page 39 which means it doesn't look like it's been as active here lately.

Man, it's been quiet in the pod this week! Is everyone actually working?! Question for the site gurus- I thought there was a way - at least on the old site, to add a race to your schedule even if it was not listed in the site's races, but I can't figure it out now. Help! I really need to add my next big race - a 4k beer run

Have you tried

Races > My Races > Add Race (button in upper right)?

No, they just slow way down in cold weather.

sorry I've been flat out at work, it would be really nice to sit at my desk for half a day, but maybe next week.

I think too there are a few people like Yanti (on her honeymoon???), Switch, Aussie Jo, Kristen, Salty .... Well nearly half the pod that have been AWOL.

I feel better.

Three and a half weeks after surgery the 'flu like symptoms have gone. That anaesthetic did a number on me.

Anyway feel better. Dr's orders no riding yet outside.

But all good, trainer is a calling.

Yep. This 70* weather has got me sluggish

I've been out and about a lot more with our winter weather finally here. Walks, runs, playing at the park, wandering the toy section with Mak as I think about Christmas coming up. Oh yeah,  and getting ready for my parents to visit next week.
