Posted this in tri talk too:

I had contacted the race organizer to volunteer to help/volunteer with anything he needed for the race. I received this reply:

 Hi,

At this point just running the race will be help as all proceeds will return to the Rushers.

By the way, this race is in the BT race database. Be sure to add it to your race log if you plan to run it, virtually or otherwise.

Reply from the race organizer:

That is very touching. I have been receiving a lot of active sign-ups within the last hour from Cal. I thought they could be relatives. I'll look at out of State registers as donations and plan the head count. They of course will be   on my Pre-register list as racers if they show.

just can't believe this!

I, like everybody else have been following this thread and it's just incredible how quickly this has happened!

It's amazing what a community this is! I don't know that many of you but I have seen so many of these episodes repeat over and over where a BT'er is in trouble from something trivial such as a serious break-up to something life-threatening like this and it continues to amaze me how this group comes together for each other!!!

I wish I had more time to spend on here and get to know more of you! You're all really a great group of people and great friends - whether I know you or not!

We love you Christine!

Ok, this is it. The LINK to the 5K run in honor of Christine Rusher. The run will be Friday, July 18th at 7pm near Tampa, FL. For those of you who knew Christine or would like to be a part of this run to honor her, whether or not you can attend, please sign up for the race. All the proceeds will be going to her family.

For those of us that cannot be there with the family that evening I would like to suggest that at 7 pm (est) we run a 5k wherever we maybe.

The hope is that this huge and wonderful BT family will be out in force, showing our love and support for Christine, her family and each other.

Life is so short and precious, you never know when it might be taken from you. God bless you, Christine. We will never forget you.

I have signed up.  Thank you, Trixie.

Christine, you are in our hearts.

Cross-posting for everyone's sake:

Jessica (TriTakeMeAway) is taking the lead and working with others on setting up an account for the Rusher Family. You are all so very good and kind to want to do more for the family. Be patient; the information will be posted once the details are in place.

This is just sooo shocking!  She was posting just 2 days ago...  How did this happen so quickly?  Where did it go so horribly wrong for her.  My heart goes out to her family!

This is just so sad. I have been in chat many times with Chirstine and even as recently as Sunday night. I have learned more about her in the last week than I knew about her in chat from the last few years. I am deeply saddened by her families loss. I plan on running a virtual 5k on Friday night.

Rest in Peace C, and may the good Lord look after your family.

I have been out of the loop. Chatted with Christine many times in chat and I am very saddened by the news. I will be signing up for the virtual 5k and will run one at the gym on Friday during the same time. My heart breaks as I think about not only her family but also her Bt family. It is amazing the way everyone on BT rallies in time of need. Goodspeed Christine.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Christine's family.  Especially for her husband, and in a particular way for her children.

Eternal rest grant unto them O Lord,
And let perpetual Light shine upon them.
May their souls
And the souls of all the faithful departed
Through the mercy of God
Rest in peace.
Amen.

A number of people have asked how they can contribute more than the $12.00 registration fee. I set up a PayPal account for this purpose:

[email protected]

Money can be sent to this account which will then be transferred to a bank account which is being set up specifically for this purpose. An accounting of the funds raised and donated will be published here upon their being transferred to the bank.
