Let me see... most races happen first thing in the morning, and most people don't go to the race all ready for a night on the town, so that must mean... We had just arrived in Savannah and went straight to the lake to check the water temp and conditions. The plan was to suit up and jump in, but we were greeted by Alford Hitchcock's birds. So this is why the swim segment was canceled... bird droppings! I would rather swim in a vat of snakes than with droppings of a gazillion birds.  |

(Not you, the fact that the water was tainted.) Did they say what it was? They threatened to do that to the Chicago Tri when a big rainstorm hit two days before the race and they had to open the levees up north of the city, releasing millions of gallons of sewage into the lake. Nice. |
