I have power, yay!!!  The dogs and I are back in my house which makes us all very happy.  Coco celebrated by 'kitty sliding' along the couch, where she leans hard against the couch and walks back and forth the length of it pushing her back against the front of the couch.  Often she arches her back a little which makes her look a bit catlike, hence the term kitty-sliding.   That dog thinks of the funniest things to do...

Also, I am (I think) able to be taken off the injury list, at least until I play in my game on Sunday, LOL!  I am still healing (read: not running) but the ART guru said I could try playing hockey.  Should be interesting.  Of course we play one of the top teams which means lots of shots and lots of action, just what a recovering hamstring that hasn't been in net since 11/24/2013 needs (sarcasm).

Yes, Olympics.  Opening Ceremonies just happened.  Luongo has more international experience, so I think him.  Very different angles etc with the bigger ice.

Amazing how much difference form makes in swimming (or lack thereof, in - ahem - certain cases).

Well done and congrats on a terrific PR!  Look out at the Oly's this year, huh?

Matt

Not Olys so much. That was just the prescribed workout for the day, and I kept track of the time.  But that's down from a 1:36/100y last time I did it!

Truth be told, I'm much more interested in the US/Canada women's games than the men's, but I will watch both.

Our women are known to celebrate with such grace and stye :-)

The US is actually favoured on the women's side. Should be a great game

I am looking forward to the hockey final and cross country skiing
A friend's son is on the bobsleigh team so I'll watch that.

I am very curious at how many dopers they will catch.

Hey all. Just checking in. Been a crazystoopidbusystressful week at work. Missed most of my training sessions. Found out last night that my brother in law's sister and niece were murdered. So we're on our way to Denver. Took the time to run my intervals before we left. It's amazing what a run will do for stress relief. Here's the article. Sheri and Alicia were beautiful women, inside and out. http://www.timescall.com/top-stories/ci_25085554/weld-deputies-seek...

omg, TJ, I'm so sorry!  It seems like we are seeing more and more domestic violence murders; it's horrible.

...aaaaand my mom is back in the hospital! She fell in the bathroom and was taken to ER--my dad is unsure as to what her exact injuries are as of yet (he's a bit freaked out--understandably) but he'll let me know. She did walk out on her own power, so that's at least something. Prayers and presses please (again).

Thanks manatees,

Okay, this time it was nothing more than a fall--she did pass out due to dehydration, BUT she did not break any parts in the fall! She is full of fluids now and under strict instructions to keep the fluid levels up. Thank goodness.

Glad she's OK.  I feel for you (been to the hospital 3 times in the last week or so with each parent - they get to a certain age and it happens. They did a lot of running around for me when I was a tyke, so I'm happy to help.  You just keep hoping they'll have a good stretch, right?).

Hope you're doing OK, too!

Just checking in, work's been busy and my out-laws have arrived from the UK this week. I thought they were with us for a week then going travelling, it now seems they might stay with us for the next 6 weeks!

I've started some strength training and I'm already feeling benefits: I normally have a weak kick but did some sets this week and felt much stronger, my ITB didn't play up on my run yesterday and my back has completely healed in record time. The bike benefits are a bit more complex, I can definitely push a bigger gear up hill but my legs are a bit tired from the lifting so my overall speed is down. I'm anticipating that the rewards will come once I'm stronger and have had a recovery period.
