I felt pretty good about my chances at this race, but winning my division was very unexpected! Congrats to all of the other manatees on their great races too! |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed WELL DONE SEAN. Congratulations itS so well deserved with all that hard work you put in. Sorry I haven't checked in for a bit work was a bit crazy last week, with meetings and some interstate travel. I had a great race on so many levels on Sunday. Got to do it with all the Turtle girls and all 4 of us beat our goal times which was great. It was a lovely sunny day (bit warm but not too hot). I ran the entire last 3k with no walking and the hills felt super easy. I beat my goal time by over 3 minutes and nearly made my "if everything goes perfectly super secret goal." 4 others that K and I know did the 5k so "team turtle" is growing and 2 of them are totally hooked and started talking about the next race within a couple of minutes of finishing. The girl who is from work is apparently walking around the office today with her medal on So I just want to say a great big thank you to you guys, your circle of inspiration and influence reaches to the other side of the planet and while we will never win our age groups or races we are out there running and enjoying all the benefits that it brings and our quiet example (well sometimes quiet) is inspiring others to do the same. After the race I got to drive home to Esperance (500 miles) with Mum and E so that was good and this morning I got to run along the foreshore with them (sore legs and all) and that always recharges my soul. Unfortunately I'm only here for the day and fly home tonight, so back to the hills and trees for me tomorrow. |

HUGE (YUGE?) congrats to Sean for winning his AG at a 70.3, wowsers! Stacey, there was so much to love about your post I don't even know where to start. Yup, you nailed what Robin highlighted on the head. I'm so happy for you and team turtle and all your successes! So much good! Judi - nice work on your 10K! Adam - way to rock and roll the Rock and Roll! And of course, thanks to Janyne who does a great job of keeping updates on the racers before, during, and after their events! I just found out I'm alone that my family's out of town that weekend and without any races planned until August, I'm thinking this could be a fun one. I haven't raced it, but have watched a few times. It tends to have a fun atmosphere. That one has actually been very watchable to me as there is a large grassy section along a hill by transition & finish. It's still in July, but hard to see a Texan having heat difficulties in Wisconsin if they're fine back home. |
