Yanti is out of the swim in 1:23:42 and through transition in 12:57.

Kingsley is out of the swim in 1:05:20 and through transition in 22:40

It is raining and 26*C (78F) in Cairns today, Kingsley and Yanti won't like that they prefer to race when it is much hotter.

Yantigot off the bike at 9:41:30, 5:09 in transition and she is now 22km into the run. Her total race time is now 13:39:04. She is doing around 10 minute Kms, so around 6kph. At that rate she has another 3+ hours of the run to go. Time is going to be tight.

I don't think that Kingsley finished the bike. I don't know if he crashed out or missed the cut off.

Boulder 70.3 race report:

Prerace: My transition spot was on grass. When I went to set up my stuff by my bike only to find that there was at least a 1/2" of water covering the grass. I was not happy. My husband got a car mat out of the car and I put that under my shoes. Someone asked if we could be moved to an empty rack on the pavement and we were told no.

Swim- Boulder Rez was reopened on Friday after being closed do to high amounts of e-coli in the water. Every time I swallowed water, I wondered if I was ingesting e-coli... swim was okay, not great with a time of 35:47. With the amount of pool time I've missed because of my ear I should be happy with this, but I'm not.

T1 - Can I have been any further from bike out? It took me 2 minutes to get through the chaos of others and get to the bike mount line.

bike- I have never seen so many crashes/flats/mechanical as I did yesterday. 5 crashes between miles 4.5 and 7. Each had at least one ambulance on scene. The last crash was with 3 or 4 racers and there was a fire truck and 2 ambulances with a third coming up. On Highway 36 there was no where to pass except going into traffic. I biked well and came in at 2:54:56, but the course was 1.5 miles short.

Bike dismount line- some sweet racer hit my bike as I was getting off. He came up way to fast and didn't stop. He got a penalty

T2- same congestion getting back to my spot. I was trying to run but got behind a walker and there was no way to go around him. When I got to my spot everything was sopping wet because the ground was so saturated. One shoe had been knocked over and was soggy along with the sock. I hate wet socks.

Run- because the day couldn't go any better, I slipped on the wet grass coming out of T2 and fell. The limb was tweaked and mad and left hamstring got really sore. First mile was on uneven ground so I walked it despite ready to run. It was hot. Really hot. There were no sponges at the aid stations. No pools of ice like years past. Second loop I grabbed one of those clothes that you pour water on and it stays cold from my husband. Even that didn't stay cool. About a mile from the end I tripped on a rock and fell again. When you trip on a rock you land on its friends.

Really disappointed as I was set up to have a sub 6 hour race. I will probably never do another Boulder race unless they limit the entries or design a bike course that can handle that many racers.

Now I'm going to get ready for our vacation we start on Tuesday.

Congrats on the race! It sounds more like Spartan race with all those obstacles... I'm sorry about the falls x 2 :/ I hope it's nothing serious and you will not feel it tomorrow/long term.

Possible cycling shoe issue. I have a pair of Sidi Tri 3.6 Shoes for around a year. Just recently my right ankle is starting to feel like it is locking up can't full range of motion when walking in regular shoes or barefoot. also side is hurting the top finally stopped took a week off of everything started to feel better. I rode tonight nothing hard but noticed ankle was back at it again. Also sometimes I feel like my right foot wants to fall off the pedal or outside of shoe. I have the cleat as far over as I can get. Also ride Speedplay pedals haven't had an issue with them that I noticed. Any Ideas?

Have you been professionally fit? Did they add any shims to your cleats?

This past weekend I volunteered on the Ride to Conquer Cancer as a Bike Tech. The ride itself is 2 days, 200km total and 4253 participants raised $17.3M for cancer research. The Saturday was quite hot and also windy which added to the challenge for many of the riders. Sunday was a little cooler but still sunny clear skys. My bike tech partner and I rode the course while fixing at least a dozen flat tires, booted a few shredded tires, fixed a number of dropped and chain sucked chains and offered encouragement to dozens of riders.

This is so great! Both: raising funds for the research, and your volunteer work
I'm so glad so many folks could complete the race thanks to your assistance. I always salute to those "bike rangers" and race guards, and all other volunteers. In the race I completed yesterday we had "swim angels" for the swim part: swimmers who helped us with some emotional support. It was so cool I want to do it one day as well, once my swim is better

Coming off of a tibial stress fracture in 2000, stevebradley made his way into triathlon. Now he has over 60 triathlons completed and is one of the most active mentor groups on BT.

Not only is he a great athlete, he is a great mentor. I have been in his mentor group for the last two rounds and he inspires and encourages our entire group daily.

Find a mentor. Make a list of at least three people that you could approach for help, list your specific needs and then be courageous enough to begin asking.
