Right now I'm trying to get through Atlas Shrugged. It's a much easier read than some of her earlier works, and I'm enjoying the ever loving heck out of it, I just don't budget enough time to read anymore. I need to win a lottery so that I can spend my non-training time on the deck of a sailboat, reading. I think my next book is one of Ben Bova's from the Grand Tour series, but I may be wrong. I have something new sitting around here somewhere, I just don't remember where. I don't even remember what I read last other than the newest issue of the Journal of International Security Affairs. |

I'll be reading The Landmark Thucydides for my next class. Sunday I read Perception and Misperception in International Politics (so-so) Monday I read large portions of Images of Organization (I wanted the pain to stop) and Analogies at War (I liked it) Yesterday I read Obama's Wars (a good, easy read) Today I'm reading Groupthink Tomorrow I'm reading The Anatomy of Revolution |

I've been reading most of my books lately on the free iPhone/iPad app 'Kobo' which is from the Canadian Chapters/Indigo stores and so far it's been absolutely fantastic including being able to read a number of free books. I just finished An Echo in the Bone by Diana Gabaldon, and currently reading 'Fool' by Christopher Moore (not my favourite of his, but I'll finish it anyways), 'Labyrinth' by Kate Mosse, 'The Scarlet Letter', and 'The Shadow of the Wind' - though now it looks like I'll be buying a bunch more books after reading some of the responses here... |

If you want perseverance, that man is the definition of the word. As is Joe Simpson in Touching the Void, an amazing account of survival.

Beach reading wise Jim Butcher's Ghost Story came out yesterday.... |

Also look into John Keegan's 'Mask of Command' for a great presentation on Alexander the Great. Very pragmatic, not embellished. While you're in this period, you may like 'I, Claudius,' by Robert Graves. |

It's me Chelsea also by Chelsea Handler I've finished both Chelsea Handler books and am starting on Craig Ferguson's book tomorrow. My horizontal life was funny. I'll summarize Are you there vodka like this, I was laughing so hard I found myself driving down the shoulder trying not to poop myself. I've just finished up Craig Ferguson's book. It's not funny in the way that the Chelsea Handler books were, it's amusing, but really it's just a good story. I picked up the copy read by Craig himself and I think that definitely added to my enjoyment. It's just like listening to someone tell their life story. I think I probably enjoyed it better this way than if I'd read it in book form. I also read (on papar) The Downhill Lie by Carl Hiaasen. He's one of my favorite fiction authors and I've recently taken an interest in Golf. The book is about Hiassen returning to golf after not playing for 30 years. It was funny. My wife got annoyed because I kept waking her up laughing while reading in bed. I'm also reading The Geeks Shall Inherit the Earth: Popularity, Quirk Theory, and Why Outsiders Thrive After High School by Alexandra Robbins. It's an interesting look into cliques, group dynamics and and social outcasts in high school. I'll be finished with it this week. Edited by graceful_dave 2011-08-01 10:22 AM |

Basically a couple of stories about his travels through the Anasazi territories of the southwest. I thought it was a very good book. If that sort of thing interests you I highly recommend it. |

My sister is battling stage IV pancreatic cancer and I was recommended this book by a breast cancer survivor. Up next on my reading list..."The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein.

On the reading front, I have the latest Borne novel by Eric Van Lustbader on my night stand, and a recent Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child book in the Pendergast series waiting for me at the library. But those will have to wait. I've got a stack of books and magazines on energy policy and trends in sustainability to get through in the next week. |

| Subject: RE: What are you reading? I just finished The Imperfectionists by Tom Rachman. It was a stunning read... most definitely on my list of all-time favorites. I've picked up Room by Emma Donoghue and have almost completed it in the 3 days I have had it. All I can say about it is...wow. I am looking for some more good stuff...
