Any pros/cons you've found with bike mounted vs helmet mounted? I haven't had either one. Erin, my only input is based on 2 pub rides in the dark, so really I am NOT the best source of info. I've used both and like helmet based, as it is a bit more flexible and gives you the ability to look at different things at different times. Is both an option? If so, go that route and have the best of both worlds. That's what I told DH I thought when he asked. Both may be an option...if the bike mounted light will distract the bugs from my face |

Still cold here in the northeast but fear not, by Saturday it should be 50 and rainy Train smart all - and have a good day! I would think that both would be best if that is an option. I mean, that's what Fatty does. |

Veteran 659 East Texas | Subject: RE: Mad Manatee Mentors New Year 2014--OPEN Another round of Manatees!! Hi I'm Jonathan Another fat to fit story; I grew up playing sports but after college I quit being active and quickly gained 100 pounds. I wokeup a few years ago at 260 pounds and having trouble getting up and down stairs. I decided to make a change and used the Abs Diet to lose 60+ pounds. My wife and I have always watched the Ironman World Championship on TV and I've always said how I would love to complete a triathlon one day. 2 years ago I set out to do that and finished my first Sprint. I was quickly hooked and signed up for my first 70.3 and that's when I met the Manatees Current Training: My huge goal of one day becoming a Ironman will hopefully come true this May as I will be attempting my first Full Ironman. I've had some time off to let my body heal the last few months however I am in full training mode now and have 18 weeks to be Ironman ready. 2013 Race: Athens Sprint, Texas 70.3, Tyler Sprint, Austin 70.3 2014 Races April: Texas 70.3 May: Texas 140.6 Sept: Tyler Sprint Late Fall: 70.3 (not sure which one) Body Composition / Health Currently I am 6'1 at 185 pounds. My goal is to be 165 pounds in May. Texas is historically a very very hot race and the reduced weight should help tremendously. I am also currently battling a Ankle problem. I've had a cortisone shot in my ankle which helped for a few days and now the pain is back. It's not a fracture. Ortho doc says it SubTaler joint whatever that is. |

DS2 and I are thinking of taking a leg. www.onerunforboston.org. Sorry about the formatting. I'm on the tablet Sounds like another fun adventure for the two of you! I think it is just super how you are able to do events together, truly! Hmm, it kind of comes close to me...the areas closest to me they'd hit on a Thursday. Oh, and and o'dark thirty! Not sure how I feel about the 1.5 hour drive at a wacky hour to run in the dark. On the other hand, I technically wouldn't have to miss work, although I doubt I'd want to go in after all that driving and running and not sleeping. On a side note, according to the scale this am I'm back to my pre-holiday weight! Hope it was a true number and not just a fluke. ART tonight, I'm going to see what he thinks about trying Masters again on Friday with me being very mindful about not kicking too much. Where are all the new manatees?! Don't be frightened, come join the fun! I asked DH if he would be willing to come along to "support" us. Otherwise we'd have to run two separate stages, with the one not running driving, or run the stage then run back to the car. We still need to talk about which one but I like the idea. |

I'm not sure what to expect but from what I hear there are some very positive success stories. I might as well try that since the cortisone doesn't seem to be working. |

It's a book I've wanted to try. I have sooooo many cookbooks/magazines. This year I am trying to thin the herd. I'm tearing the recipes I want out of the mags and throwing away the rest. Focusing on (mostly) healthy cooking. I also have the Feed Zone books and love them. I've been really cutting back on red meats so far this year and nobody has complained yet. DS2 was pretty much no red meat before he moved home. Edited by rrrunner 2014-01-08 11:46 AM |

I hadn't heard of it before you mentioned it but I guess that kind of makes sense since the nearest place is about five hours drive from Raleigh. It sounds like a particular physical therapy regime and it's certainly worth exploring -- especially since people have recommended it to you. |
