What can we do to make the newer Manatees feel at home too? JoGo challenge all the crazy jargon is still in play. Warm fuzzies! |

Master 8248 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! I think I need some kind of goal like variety in diet. I keep eating the same things over and over. They're healthy enough, mostly, and I don't think I'm overeating, but pretty boring. Just can't be bothered lately. |

The last one we did was a 6 week challenge. How does that sound to everyone? Also, what day of the week do we want to check in? I think I'm in for 5 hours a week of riding for the challenge. I'll use the distance sheet, but adjust accordingly. |

Yes, I believe we had that covered in the "eating habits" tab in the past. But i can see this being a separate category. |

Master 7712 Orlando | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! Originally posted by JBacarella I could use a JoGo challenge. Having the kids here, Michelle made regular meals, every night. Couple that with holiday sweets and there is way too much Jim to go around. It is time to regain structure and stop eating so much. Which means I need to break out the "Don't Eat Like a Pig" diet. Ha! I'm about to start a 6 week weight loss challenge b/c I have gone way off the rails with my eating. It starts tomorrow (Monday), so I'm busy eating all the bad things today |

Lethbridge, Alberta | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! Picking appropriate challenges is tough right now as I'm not really sure where my fitness is at. In spite of previous experience, I've been so nearly sedentary for so long that I'm pretty much starting back as a beginner. There is a bit of a base. The Apple watch says a workout has to be 15 minutes or more to count so I've regularly been on an elliptical 2 or 3 times a day for at least that long but rarely much longer. Also, from previous years of yoga classes, I've still been in the habit of at least some stretching, almost every day. Fast forward to this past week where the treadmill in the basement was dusted off and fired up for 3 slow 15 minute runs so far. Running was my weakest sport and likely needs the most work. Perhaps a goal of at least 4 runs per week would be reasonable though the aim is for more, in time. As well, this morning the old road bike got a new tube in one tire, both tires pumped up, and some chain lube applied. Then the old CyclOps trainer was dusted off and the bike mounted on it. Most of the elastic materials in my tri gear crackled and gave up as it stretched, and stretch it did as it seems to have shrunk badly while stored away, but it worked for today. As a trial run I got on and spun the pedals for 15 minutes, though the bike seat interface is going to need some re-adaptation. A couple of biking sessions per week would be another good goal. Sadly the local pools are all closed indefinitely so swimming will have to wait. Finally, I really need to start getting some regular strength work too. The computer offered a nice 20 minute body weight routine and, so far, I can do each of the prescribed exercises at least once. 20 minutes of effort towards completing the routine, say twice a week, ought to fit in the schedule somehow. |

You are light years ahead of me. I am as limber as cement. I have been doing some yoga from YouTube. My family said it is painful to watch me doing yoga. Edited by JBacarella 2021-01-10 5:29 PM |

We still need to determine a check in day. How does Friday sound? We start on 1/15 and move forward from there. I can make that adjustment on the sheets easily. Let me know.

Falling Creek (5/8) and Tryon (9/4) look like I could do without hotels. The Greenwood (10/2) and Walhalla (7/10) ones look good but are a bit more of a drive. Gravel peeps, put your thinking caps on for potential fall events. Would an event in the GA/SC/NC are work for you? |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: Manatees Dooo Eeeet!!! PSA for Manatees: keep an eye on the condition of your cycling shoes. My road shoes (Sidi) have rubber heel pads to facilitate safe walking. Walking becomes unsafe (especially on paved, sloped driveways of friends) when the heel pads erode down to the sole. Yesterday I was walking my bike down to the street from the top of my friend's driveway (she isn't comfortable traversing the steep-ish drive and weird drop-off from the sidewalk, so when in Rome...) when without any warning my left foot skated out from under me and I went down hard on my left hip and right knee. No worries, the bike was fine, it had a nice, soft landing (me). Yup, got up, shook it off, and we did our ride. The hip initially hurt worse than the knee but ultimately the hip didn't bruise and the knee ended up with a large goose egg and an open wound (even though my pants didn't tear, just scuffed). Yes, replacement heel pads are on the way! |

That works for me. The weight loss one shows start of 1/11 (today), then the other sheets show the first week as 1/13. Am I missing something? Is it 11, 13, or 15? Ha. |
