It's November 11 and 12 or something like that. Sounds great, right? Vegas. A race. Missing school. So what's the problem? I have no desire to do the race. None. I want to go to Vegas. I don't want to run. What is wrong with me? Someone, please give me a kick in the pants!! I see you have IM Boulder on the schedule, so you are doing a lot of training now. Perhaps once it's over and you take a little break you'll feel differently about doing the HM. If not, just go Sherpa for your husband and have fun!! ETA: Guess that really wasn't a kick in the pants! |

So y'all are so far ahead of me now I'm seeing "lunch run" on strava while I have breakfast!!! Stacey is probably practically a full day ahead of me now I'm so far ahead of you I'm heading out for my Friday morning workout LOL! I think you won't catch up to Yanti, Stacey, and I unless you come and visit. And I'm ahead even of myself. My coach often has me do these little series of workouts that progress gradually with a similar format from one week to the next, for three or four weeks, especially on the run. That seems to work well for me. But yesterday I checked the schedule and apparently mixed up similar workouts in my head--I did NEXT WEEK'S workout! |

Master 9705 Raleigh, NC area | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Originally posted by DaveL It does sound like everyone had a good racing weekend. I am still trying to plug some training in where I can but without a goal race, or a lot of time, I am floundering a bit. I will be moving to shift work in May which means working every second weekend. It also seems that each of those weekends when I work is a race that I would have liked to do. It kind of stinks but I guess I have to look at whats available on weekends Im not working. Ciao for now. I'm sure that you'll find some fun stuff to do on your weekends off and get some great training in during your weekdays off. |

I don't want to run. What is wrong with me? Someone, please give me a kick in the pants!! I did the RnR Vegas half a few years ago. I signed up for it and then busted up my shoulder and had surgery. It was the first thing that I was allowed to do when I was recovering. I had a good time both in Vegas and at the event. There were tons of people and the course was quite crowded. I'd recommend seeing yourself a on the fast side because a lot of people seemed to put in extremely optimistic times. The course goes by the Welcome to Vegas sign. Oh, it's something like 4:00pm start. Kick in the pants. DOOO EEETTTTT!!!!! Think of it as an event, not a race. |

There is a 10k option and maybe a 5k if you never really get going? I think that the 5k is the night before the two longer events. |

I know Yanti and I thought Janyne both rocked Elvis garb while running a race, possibly even a Vegas race (I don't remember for sure). Viva Las Vegas! At least he didn't register you for the full |

Master 10208 Northern IL | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed A new sprint tri is starting just a few miles away from me. Curious what the run looks like to others. The main features I see are that it goes up this hill right out of transition and then down this hill (segment goes uphill) just over a block away. Now consider that this is a 3 lap course, going up and down this every time. Having run these a fair number of times over the years, I think it's going to be brutal. HR was going into Z3 on a recent run up the one even slowing to 13+ min /mile pace. |

Me too! For me, a hill like this is worse in a sprint than longer distance. Hills during those all-out efforts are brutal! PS - Go racers go!!! |

812 Katy, Texas | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Let's go Tom & Anne!!! I had to back out of my race tomorrow. I tested my legs with some pickups on a short run this morning and my quads said hell to the no. It's a shame, I really like dusting the local competition lol. I am looking forward to getting back to riding with my club team tomorrow instead. I hope everyone has a wonderful manatee weekend! |

Subaru Canada sponsors a few triathlon series across Canada and if you participate you get a $750 "athlete" rebate if you buy a Subaru (which I am doing now). I have a local trail run and cyclocross style race that I can also fit in. So far my volunteering for the ride to conquer cancer ride also looks free. |

Managed to average 120 watts through the ride and even ran low on blood sugar and was shaking those last several miles. All well that ends well! |

Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed It has been a rough week. My wife had her surgery on Monday at Cleveland Clinic. The surgery was very painful and recovery won't be easy, but not nearly what she went through in November and December after the first surgery. On Wednesday, I had what was honestly the worst ride of my life. I was using one of their spin bikes, when my oldest texted that she was having an issue with one of her law school applications and was upset, Not an emergency, just a couple of texts to calm her down, then try to figure out a solution. Then my wife called to tell me that daughter #2 had a hairdryer explode and she was on her way to the ER. She ended up with a 2nd degree burn on her finger. As soon as I got off the phone with her, my Mom's Hospice nurse called and she informed me that my mother was actively dying. My brother came up to be with my Mom. I was upset, because I was so far away, and my wife needed me (although she told me to go). I did get a second opinion from her Dad and he felt I should stay. He could not come to Cleveland to be with my wife, because my mother in law is still recovering from her illness. My wife was discharged on Thursday and we started the normally 5 1/2 hour drive, it took over 7 hours, because of the weather. I drove directly to the nursing home and stayed with my Mom from Thursday night until Saturday morning when she passed. My older daughters came home from college, to say goodbye to my Mom. It was nice to spend the extended time with them and my Mother and his wife. The good out of this is: -For the first time in 15 years, my wife is disease free! -My Mom is free from her Alzheimer's prison. One super cool thing is my oldest daughter won the Humanitarian of the Year from Michigan State University for her work with the refugees in the Moria Refugee Camp in Greece.
