The evil trainer dude wanted to know if I would be coming in for a workout  the week after B2B... Um... no.  No, I'm not.  He's also informed me that we're going to have a GREAT time focusing on squats and lunges and the like.  Yay?

Morning, TAN! Trying desperately to get this sickness GONE. It's almost there.

This afternoon, I'm headed here, for orientation. I'm going to be a ride leader for them for a training group a few weeks building up to El Tour de Tucson. Pretty excited!

Flip turns and nutrition... no wonder this TAN is over 2 months old but only 65 pages long.

I don't know if that's true, but I'm going to try to get better at them, because they look cool.

Not everyone looks cool doing them  some people are aaallllll over the place! I like it when they end up in a different lane.

Mine are perfect, I just chose not to.

8 out of 10 times my flip turns go smoothly, I glide past the flags, and everything is great.

2 out of 10 times I get half a gallon of water up my nose, my goggles flood, eyes bloodshot, and I'm hyperventilating at the wall vowing to never do a flip turn again.

I'd like to get closer to 10/10 going well

Which should be easier to achieve if we're not torturing my arms!  EXCELLENT!

Then again, if he tries to run away after all the stupid squats and lunges, there's not a hope in hell that I'll catch him to be able to get a junk punch in.

Totally perfect here too, I just don't want others to feel bad as I perfectly flip turn beside them.

I thought that flipturns were something that I was supposed to add to my pizza repertoire to spice it up.

It is not you.  TAN does that all on its own.  Must be lunch time.  Broccoli cheese soup today for me, what about TAN?

Homemade sweet potato and eggplant "burger". It's pretty good. Gotta get creative with what the CSA gives me. I'm just hoping to never see summer squash again.

Your day sounds WAAAAAAY better than mine.

Rainy Chicago day and I'll be having a turkey & swiss wrap with the stuff that I just bought at Walgreens.  Sigh.

At least I've got more homemade chicken soup to look forward to once I get home tonight!

"Chicken Stew" for me from the cafeteria. Looked harmless enough, chicken, tomatoes, onions, mushrooms - broth base. It was good (with cheese on top of course) but I'm still hungry. Weigh in tomorrow, no snacking

Kona on a fixie

Holy crap - dude is freakin' tough as nails.  Did Kona in 2009 (his 15th Kona) ON A FIXIE!  Not only that, but he did it on a fixie to re-create when he did Kona in 1996 ON A FIXIE!

Dayum.

Just keep doing them.  When you get 25 thousand under your belt, you should be pretty smooth.

Training our bodies to work efficiently in Zone 2 will help us keep our HR and pace even throughout an Ironman. This theory would hold true for the bike and run portion of an Ironman race.
