Racing Manatees!!! May 27-28 Disabled List Our hearts to out to all those affected by terrorism in Manchester and anywhere else. We are doing the HM at the HBF run this year. Mum and E arrived last night, which is great cause your never really sure if the little plane is gonna make it in winter as they cancel it a lot. We are off to the running store today for them to stock up on supplies cause they can't buy Gu and stuff where they live and shoes are even more expensive there than they are here. Then we are all staying at Ks tonight, her poor husband, lucky he is a very placid man to put up with us 4 together. |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Originally posted by Hot Runner Yanti, that reminds me...Can you reprint the Paypal address for donations for Oscar's kids? I remember I donated to the wrong one and I don't think I ever re-did it correctly! Sorry--life has been pretty chaotic here lately. Congrats to Albert on 4th at Bintan--I think we share that placing! Even if 4th in AG, that is pretty impressive. The teen tri scene in Singapore (I know it's Indonesia, but half of Singapore seems to show up at Bintan) is crazy fast. 4th OA He's probably been affected by Oscar's death more than anyone. He and Helen both saw Oscar's body right after he died and before he was taken for autopsy. Albert's also been madly studying for HS exams, the only shot he's got for continuing to university. He's whip-smart. All that shyte, 17yrs old, 2nd triathlon ever, 4th OA (and by a few seconds). baliquadrathon at gmail dot com no L. Thank you. |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Sent....hopefully it is right this time, and I still have money on my card! I broke down and replaced my bike shoes today after several months of waffling about it. Nowhere near the shoe situation you showed in the pic but either my shoes have shrunk with repeated getting wet and drying, or my feet have swelled with heat, training, and aging, or both, over the past three years. My toes were getting squashed, especially on long rides, and I felt like it was starting to affect my ability to run off the bike. Luckily the Taiwanese-run bike shop had some a half-size bigger with a roomier toe box --hope that does the trick. Edited by Hot Runner 2017-05-28 6:55 AM |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Had a great run yesterday - I beat my previous best HM time by 9 minutes and 54 seconds. Mum beat hers by around 4 minutes and E by around 6. K was on track to beat hers too but she had a fall at around the 12k mark and hurt her ankle. But she got up and dusted herself off and finished which is an even bigger win for her because normally something like that would make her stop. My legs were pretty sore afterward but surprisingly today they are pretty good. I'm supposed to do another HM away this coming weekend but at this point I'm not sure if I will cause I have developed a pretty nasty head cold and chesty cough since yesterday's run. I hope your run went really well Tom. |

Expert 2811 | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed My 55 mile ride went well. I am really happy with how I did. I think the changes in my off season program worked well. I was happy with my bike, nutrition and overall performance. The ride was a loop that went through the Huron National Forest along the AuSable River. It is a beautiful ride, one of my favorites. There is a Strava section of the ride named, "does this hill ever end." I PRed the climb. |

143 | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Well done with the PB Stacey! The HM was good and really well supported, as it is the first one I have run it was a PB 2hr 18. It wasn't the time I wanted when I signed up to it but with a sore shoulder and ribs I was happy as thought it would have been slower considering I have only managed 2 small runs in the last 5 weeks and limited with the pain. Next year I will smash that time |

Veteran 1900 Southampton, Ontario | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed New bike alert! For a couple of strange reasons I picked up this mountain bike frame. 1. It is the same color scheme as my other Rocky Mountain full suspension bike. 2. I want to learn more so figure there is no better way than to build a bike from the frame up. 3. I just have a thing for red mountain bikes. I do have a bit of a head start as it came with a bottom bracket installed, I have pedals, a set of wheels, grips, a headset and seat. Really all thats missing is a crank, drive train, fork, stem, handle bars, brakes and other things I am sure I am forgetting (okay that does seem like a lot) The build will be slow and will certainly be a single speed but I am not sure if I will go with a rigid fork or a suspension fork. Time and budget will decide. ??how do you imbed the picture?? Edited by DaveL 2017-05-29 3:33 PM Attachments ---------------- rockysoul.jpeg (119KB - 10 downloads) |

Pennsylvania | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Stacey - congrats to you and all the 'Turtles' for setting new PRs and having very good races, it's so wonderful to see the success your group is sharing. Tom - wow, way to go! Incredible to be able to go the distance with your injuries. Next year for sure, watch out PB! James - very good riding! Way to PR that climb, woooooo! I had to look at a map of where Huron National Forest was simply because you mentioned the AuSable river. There is an AuSable river in the Adirondacks/Lake Placid area but clearly they are not the same one. |

Think I have a little more than that left of my older tri bike (after my brother got tired of trying to sell the frame) and it feels like it's almost gone! |

I've found that my 2x9 could have been a 1x11 and I would be fine. Granted, I have minimal hills and few opportunities to really get top to bottom on gearing. But I'm not sure one gear would make me happy. |

Master 2177 | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Hi, Robin! Hope the holiday weekend went well, and good luck with getting the training re-started! Tom, my heart goes out to the families and friends who lost someone to that senseless act of violence. Yanti, feel better, lady! Awesome jobs on your races, Stacey, Jim and Tom! Yay PR's!! Dave, liking the frame color. Can't wait to see the finished product! I've been really busy enjoying the company of my oldest child who's been away for college, and starting life post college, for the past 8 years. The reunion with her siblings was the sweetest thing I have ever seen. I've still be running and doing Crossfit. Stuff that she can do with me. I'm not wanting to spend too much time away from the family while she is visiting. STILL haven't been swimming. Arrrgh. Pinky promise as soon as my daughter leaves to return to FL. I'll need the water to hide my tears. Hope you're all having a good start to your week! Edited by Blanda 2017-05-30 7:11 PM |

Master 8249 Eugene, Oregon | Subject: RE: More Manatee Mayhem - 2017 Edition - Closed Having trouble visualizing how one can avoid swimming when living on an island. I think I was in the ocean almost every day when I lived in Hawaii, and I wasn't even training for something. Or is Guam a lot bigger than I think? Or maybe, having grown up land-locked, I was just obsessed with the novelty of having an ocean right down the road? |
