SSMinnow - 2010-01-13 3:26 PM EXCITED METER IS RUNNING HIGH TODAY (and no it isn't because I am running)...

1. Remember the guy I told you about who while drunk wanted me to be his Gillian for his first Sprint?  Well he emailed me his first three run workouts today.  He is actually starting to train...  Totally thrilled for him.

2. Remember my friend Bob?  He is back home after brain surgery, walking and talking normally.

3. My swimming lesson resulted in my first ever compliment from my coach in the 7 months we have worked together.  I had to ask him if he was just trying to make me feel good since I have been down in the dumps about running.  Nope.

Now if I could only get my running back in action life would be perfect.

THAT IS GREAT NEWS!!! CONGRATS!!!

I forgot one thing....I don't have to kill Lonestar yet....if I can start doing some level of mileage by Mid-Feb I should be good to go...won't be fast, but at least will be there.  PT says probably not, but SJ and I still have not given up.

Great news on all accounts....especially about Bob.  That is an amazing recovery.

Had a 5 miler today on the trails at Kennesaw Mountain.  Felt great but the legs haven't been on that type of hills in a while.  Best part was getting back to the paved stretch for the last .9 miles and we ran that at sub-9:00 pace....Woo Hoo!!

Also....at the request from an Inspire I got today I posted a picture of the HUGE (that means gaudy and pretentious) ring we got last night for winning state in softball...actually I had a BT friend post it there because I can't even spell GEEK much less post pictures.

Stop by and take a look and have a laugh.

Steve

Wow. It doesn't get much better than that. So cool that you have had a positive impact on someone (drunk running guy) and he is ready to follow through. Awesome for BOTH of you. And the Bob news is the very best of all. He must be an amazing guy. So awesome for him and his wife. Finally, woot on the swimming compliment!!! I thought of you yesterday in the pool where I swam one length breathing on my off side. It made my neck hurt.

Hope the sunshine keeps beaming your way!

HOLA......What's on tap this weekend?  a little race? some big training? DO TELL!

I'll kick it off...no racing, but I am a bachelorette this weekend so lots of biking, a couple of test run/walk efforts; foot permitting and some fun girl stuff--a facial and a massage!  Today is a swim lesson with SJ.

Oh and I am on the count down to Mexico....only 10 days to go!

Hasta La Vista,
Suzy

Probably nothing for me this weekend.  Skiing on Saturday morning, charity event on Saturday night, wrestling tournament all day Sunday.  Possibly a run or trainer ride Sunday night depending on when we get home.  I am about due for a rest day anyway so I will call half a day of skiing and a night of dancing my rest day Laughing

Remember back in the day when a  'rest day' was after a night of drinking, waking up at noon eating McDonalds and laying on the couch all day?? All that changes when the kids come. No such thing as a day off now.

And wrestling? I'm going to go with "Whatcha gonna do brotha' when Hulkamania runs wild on you?"

Glad to hear you had a great day Suzy.  I also had a very solid day as well.  Although no training because my cold has ramped up and my throat feels swollen shut, I am taking a rest day.  I had to train people at work today so I was talking almost all day, really hard on an already sore throat.

I got word of my final performance review numbers, and I must say I am absolutely amazed, double of what I was expecting and came with a promotion.

I got home and found out my PT/HED 60 came in and I got the hub switched over to Shimano.  I need to stop by the LBS tomorrow and get some grease and a new tube with a longer stem so I can hook up my trainer tire on the new wheel.  I also need to pick up some batteries for the hub as they appear to be dead.   I cannot wait to get started using it and kick this friggin cold.

Suzy - did you said you were looking for better tires for the trainer but the Conti hometrainer tires doesn't come in 650c?

Will this work?
http://www.modernbike.com/itemgroup.asp?IGPK=2126175023&SSAID=204502  The 26 x 1.75?  I think they just released it, I'm not sure.

Check it out

PS - I'm so happy for Bob and the good news!!

Thanks for all the info and suggestions, everyone! I really do appreciate it. I was so disheartened, and actually woke this morning a little depressed about it all.

Time to bite the bullet and run outside three times a week until it gets easier, even if I do feel like my lungs are going to explode and my legs are going to fall off. Sheer attrition. It's like swimming - at first I could barely swim 25 yards, now I'm able to string together 200 yards without stopping to rest- in 6 weeks.

I'm thinking I'm going to concentrate on my swim/run and only get in one long bike ride a week for a while. And when I do have to go inside on the TM, I will set the incline to 1% and see if that makes a difference. Again, thanks for the input!

Hasta La Vista,

i'm supposed to be running the half here in houston.  jarrett and june are getting over being sick and today i'm home w/ jacy.  nice present from her first week of daycare was rsv.  i think i've washed my hands about 40 times today.  we went back to the pediatrician last night becasue the wheezing started so she put her on these breathing treatments.  she seems to be responding to it but man is she pitiful.  poor girl, i'll be sitting on the couch holding her.  she'll have a face full of snot, breathing sounds like someone walking on dry leaves but she'll catch me admiring her out of the corner of her eyes and she gets this big ol' gummy smile.  ha!  so far i'm still feeling pretty good so we'll see.  there's a ton of BT peeps including two from this mg that will be down there sunday, i'd really hate to miss it.

so tracy if i don't wear it you are coming to LS?  sweet.  you really should fly in for this.  do the sprint on saturday or just fly in saturday night with linda and you you two can fly back home together monday morning.

Sorry about the kiddie germs.  My son picked up RSV once as a baby and it sucked.  That whole tube thing over their mouth and nose was always a struggle.  I hope everyone stays on the mend.  Good luck this weekend.  It sounds like getting to the start line will be a victory.  ;-)  Any PR plans?  ;-)  You have me on the 5K but I think I own you on the 1/2.  Of course now that I'm running my mouth I need to go check.  LOL

Ugh... woke up this morning and feel just as bad or worse than yesterday.  I have no voice today, throat is on fire, and coughing like crazy.  Going to be a work from home day today and hope I don't have to call for any support issues, but it also looks like another day off from working out.  Why couldn't I have been sick last week when the pool was closed.  At least I got a couple days of swimming in earlier this week.

Must get to the bike store today and get grease and a tire that has a longer valve.

ugh, my coach fixed the Computrainer workout for me, I was looking at the file he sent.

you can build your own workouts, i.e. x amount of time at y watts.  I opened the file and saw lots of stuff over 300 watts and some over 400...

Going to be a fun sweaty evening...

I would say that I am definitely on a bike heavy program.
