The rolling result of IMChoo cancelling the swim it has caused a total freak out on the second most neurotic FB chat group I belong to (most neurotic is a parents group for college students). some people are losing their minds! It appears many are cancelling and or trying to switch to Louisvile, so you may see a spike in numbers.

We have, there were a bunch that joined the IMLou FB chat this after saying they switched.

I think there are a fair number of people that have a full IM as a bucket list type of thing. They may have trained many months to do the full as a one-time thing with no plans to do another. I could see why having the swim canceled would be way more upsetting for those people than for many of us.

Yep, lots of people are one and done, so I can understand the effort/need to find another. I’ve heard rumors they may be an issue with Louisville ‘s swim, but don’t know how that can be an accurate assessment so far out.

The panic birds have been flying around Louisville since the IMChoo swim was cancelled. Someone posted that the dam output is too high and current speed is unsafe, and there is debris in the water (as you saw there is always debris in that water, and I thank God I can't see what's in that water). My position remains stalwart, I would rather be safe than dead.

I can absolutely see both sides.  Safety first, without question.  But if it is your first, or one and done, I can totally see the freakout side of things.  Unfortunately, Ironman will always be a 'take what the day gives you' kinda thing.  IMC 2015 it had been hot as hades (around here at least) for weeks, but race day was rainy and really cold.  There will always be something and you can only control what you can control.

I am taking my Mom back to Fla for the winter this Sunday so I won't be able to track anyone. It is about a 12 hour trip with her. We need to stop more than I would on my own.

Chris, How is the Gulf, it is still yucky?  I  was hoping to get some ocean, OWS in but not if there is still Red Tide. I would sure love to get together and bike with you but this time is going to be short. April is not too far off !

Good luck, Chatt people and other racers!I may not be able to track much as well--Mom and I are taking a scenic drive up to Sun Valley tomorrow to celebrate her 80th birthday! (She's doing her long ride while I do my long run up there on Monday, plus there will be some good eatin'.) Not too many 80 year old women celebrate their B-days that way, but my mom is a force of nature!

Janyne started. I know the tracker isn’t super accurate but they seem to be getting them started more quickly than expected.

Happy Monday everyone! How did all the racers do? Everyone finish? I did an Olympic tri yesterday and my legs are killing me. I'm almost embarrassed to say it with all the IM racers this weekend . How's everyone feeling?

Thanks all. I'll get a race report up soon. Here's the summary:

I was managing a house of 8 people and we stayed across the river so I only got to meet janyne and it was quick side note, we're doing immt next year by ourselves so if any one of you come, drinks on me!!

Not that upset the swim was cancelled. I don't need ecoli.

Bike was great and weather was perfect.

Sun came out for the run and it freaking melted me.

I would do this race again but only if the move it to November or December because the heat got me - did I mention it was hot???

Got home this afternoon and I'm mostly recovering well.

Off to bed because I gotta work tomorrow.

Thanks for tracking us on Sunday!! My short version is:

More than disappointed about the cancelled swim. I won't say "devastated," but my day's outcome would have been very different if we would have swam (see below). NO I did not want to swim in toilet water or want anyone to get sick, and I get it, but I'm allowing myself to have emotions about the last minute development.

Bike: I went out too hard on the first loop, averaging more than a mile faster than I typically average on long rides. Got extreme sleepiness, then nausea started on the second loop, but pushed through.

Run: Nauseous and dizzy every single step, not an exaggeration. Forced to walk nearly the entire thing. It wasn't just in my head as my body finally decided it was ready to vomit an hour after I finished.

My finish time was 13 minutes past the maximum allowed time of 14:40, so I'm officially listed as "did not finish within the allowed time." The most disappointing twist is that if I would have swam and had a T1, I'm positive I would have made the 16:30 cut off with plenty of time to spare. I swam the course a month ago in 58 minutes.

In the end, I'm wildly proud of myself for pushing through insane nausea and dizziness for 75% of the day. I had a great race weekend with my family and one of my best friends - it was our 5th IM together! And I got to cross another finish line and hear my name called.

Through my running distress, I was only able to recognize Janyne a few times on the run and I tried to cheer her on... I hope everyone else had a wonderful race and are recovering well!

Full Race Report here!

I haven’t started on my race report, but will say that I’m both happy and disappointed with my performance. I had cramping calves and nausea for most of the run, so i don’t feel like I put forth my best performance. Still, I am very happy to be an Ironman ! Chattanooga is a great venue, filled  with really nice people; I’m glad I was part of everything!
