Yay, I signed up for a 5K in a few weeks. This will mark my 2 year RUNNIVERSARY. It was the very first 5K I ever did I remember I had no idea what I was doing. In fact, I think I used a very clever (actually no, it wasn't clever at all) combination of safety pins AND the zip-tie things for the timing chip to pin my numbers to my shirt. Additionally, I wore a cotton hoodie. Also, I finally got my sh*t together and picked up my running club singlet so I can represent 2. It's sunny! In Seattle! In May! YAAAAAAAAAY! Now feel free to spill the beans. Ha ha ha. Kind of like I do in my blog--spew venomous vomit for a few paragraphs, then sweet as pie turn around and say what I'm grateful for. Except you're vaguely mature and marvelously positive and actually posted the good stuff first. In any case, I gotta crash. Falling asleep at the keyboard (see how I duck right out for the venomous vomit part?). Actually, one of the things you guys would probably find entertaining haha I was hanging up my towel after I showered and sneezed so hard I ripped the entire towel rack off the wall. Snerk! It's all those flexed arm hangs you do! I KNOW! So, interestingly enough 4 mornings a week when I get in to work I do a very short strength routine working my arms are core. I am talking 10-20 minutes MAX. I was just trying to keep the balance since runners tend to get tiny little skeleton-arms. Anyway, I was looking at one of the race photos my family took
A little bit each day goes a long way! I think it's helped swimming be not so awful, too. Oh you poor, poor child. If only you knew what lay ahead ... And I want to sink my teeth into that CAKE. Oooooooh yeah ... What lay ahead? Does that have something to do with cake? Snerk. Of course. |

Seattle | Subject: RE: Mad Mutant Manatee Mentors 4--CLOSED I tried to do a hard track workout last night but I go the "hell no" from our coach. Although he did let me do the full workout, he had me do it much closer to marathon pace than 10K pace like everyone else. I really don't mind doing slower workouts but it's always really awkward because he always seems to know just the pace I have to run where it's slow enough that my mind wanders like a mofo but fast enough that I SHOULD be focusing on keeping the pace. Of course I forgot a watch so luckily my training partner kept me in check. We were alternating leading every two laps and she kept having to scold me.
Interestingly enough I was very slow to build a friendship with my training partner (not for any particular reason, sometimes I just prefer to keep friendships separate? I dunno, I am weird...) anyway, we have gotten a lot closer as of late and it's really nice to have a friend, not just someone I train with, who enjoys running as much as I do. |

REALLY I just cannot imagine that. Lovely that you like it Your coach is wise. Also, even though you may not feel it, you still do have the marathon in your legs and in your overall recovery in an energy sense (kind of a wishy washy word to use here but you understand). It's not just the race--it's the very long build-up, the travel, that race on that day, and that you had a cold afterward. |

Does anyone know the best way to get it out? Dilute a little bit of Simple Green in water (1 part Simple Green to 5 parts water) and brush into the fabric with an old toothbrush. Let it sit until it dries. You might need to repeat. Then launder as normal. |

I can't even type it. That time would be too good to be true. Even my if-everything-goes-as-expected-time is much better than I would have thought a year ago. And I'm not going to think about the if-everything-goes-wrong time. lol And have you seen my swim times??? Improvement. And I'll be wearing a wet suit, so that should make it even better. My bike is in the shop for a check up and they are putting on my racing tires. Woohoo!! This will be my first season with them. I've got first-triathlon-of-the-season fever. |
