i was kind of eh about this race , so am not to disappointed not to be racing; but I do feel badly for those people signed up for the longer distances- especially the full.Right now the race hasn’t actually  been called, i think they are looking to see if they can do a later start ( which would put my sprint that is currently scheduled to start at 9:30) to who knows when; but whatever time it may go off it should mean rain and wind. This is a really hilly course, so the bike could be treacherous! 

I am participating in a 30km trail race.  Which may get shortened by me to 17km (the 'halfway' point) because I am woefully undertrained, have no trail shoes (couldn't find a pair that fit well/didn't make my feet hurt) and it has been pouring for days....

Yes, it's miserable here! I think the tornado warnings that are in effect til 12 was the final nail in the race coffin!

Well, that's going to hurt tomorrow.  Actually, it already does!  Got the entire 30km done--longest training run was 13km .  I really like trail running and I do like this race.  The weather was not as rainy as it was supposed to be, although it was pretty muddy and slick and spots.  Went down once early, just a minor scrape.  Almost went down several other times but managed to get control!  There were a lot of fallen leaves, more than I remember in previous years, and it made it really difficult to see rocks and other tripping hazards.  Glad I finished!

Thanks Jim, I saw this too; but I was only doing a sprint, not the full Great Floridian, so I will not be taking advantage of this offer!  If I had swum more than a mile and biked more than 30 miles in the last couple of months I may have been tempted, but...

Hello Manatees! My race yesterday went well. My main goal was to go under 2 hours. Definitely did that - came in just less than a minute faster than my late winter half this year. Such an amazing day out. Almost hot, dare i say it. The Niagara Falls race ended up on the same day as the Waterfront Marathon in Toronto which is attempting to be a mega race. It was pretty small and my 1:57 time put me in the top 100 ladies. I definitely enjoyed the course - pancake flat, along a river. It's not a ton of spectators but at this point in my racing it's not what i crave. It's pretty cool as it finishes right next to the falls - and it's a great beacon on the way because you can see the mist from it for a long way so you know you are headed the right way!

It would be interesting to know how many, if any, people took IM up on its offer. It's also interesting to note that not too long ago there could not be an offer like that as the race (like others) sold out in minutes! 

Regarding 2021, I have no plans to do another full distance race, but if i did I think i'd lean toward Canada. A friend is about to buy a condo on/near the course and has been urging me to race. No way that's happening in 2020, but if i get amnesia about my promises never to do a full again, who knows what 2021 will bring
