I hope that everyone is doing well and that there is no additional flooding in PA or WNC. We need a report from Nancy on the status of the Savannah River in advance of Augusta 70.3 this weekend. This is the list that I have compiled so far on meetup ideas. What say you? 2019 Manatee Meetup Ideas How do you all feel about Ragnar Trail? A meetup would be interesting, although I'm not sure there will be this exact event next year: https://www.runragnar.com/event-detail/trail/carolinas_sc#overview
That sounds fun, Chris! I love trail running, plus I've never lost blood in the Carolinas yet. While I'm being tongue-in-cheek with my blood comment, I'd be interested in being part of a Ragnar trail run experience. Many of them seem to be loop/camp based which seems more appealing to me than being in a van/car, driving from point to point. I did a Ragnar trail race here in NM with people who were strangers until that weekend, now I consider them friends. It would be an incredible experience for this group! The one I did in NM was in a ski town so rather than doing a traditional camping area we did a condo, which worked out well because it rain/snowed most of the weekend. |

My sister (BrendaK here on BT, she may be private though) and her kids are evacuating to my house today as Tallahassee is going to get hit hard. This is the 3rd major hurricane in as many years to hit the panhandle, which is wild. My only observation on evacuations is that you can either go early or not go at all. Those that go late experience a hurricane while sitting in the car on a highway that resembles a parking lot. Or in a hotel that is ill prepared. I don't mean to sound like Jim Cantore, but I've been through a few and they aren't fun. My hope is that they are a few miles off the coast, the farther the better. Storm surge SUX. It is so appreciated! The waters have started to get higher already around my cousins. All the eldest are packed up with some of the young'uns for the duration. I haven't specifically heard from my parents yet, but I'm sure they'll check in some time today. Quote from my mother in Pensacola, "That's it?" They were very lucky. Sadly, all of that will run towards Wilmington and the areas where it is heading now and already are flooded. |

Veteran 2441 Western Australia | Subject: RE: Manatees - 2018 Edition Now CLOSED Originally posted by glfprncs i got my first one from the hardware store (your version of Home Depo) it was pretty cheep. Battery operated made by EverReady. It worked fine but wasn't bright enough for trail running at night and it gets dimmer as the batteries lose their charge. The second one I got is still battery powered and made by Petzel, from memory it is 300 lumens but not certain about that as it isn't written on it anywhere. Anyone have running headlamps they love that aren't ridiculously pricey? How many lumens do you need? Rechargeable or replaceable batteries best? If you can find a rechargeable one then that might be a better option but in saying that the rules of the night time trail run events here are that you have to carry either a full set of spare batteries or a spare headlamp and they check before they give you your race bib. Spare batteries are easier to carry. |

How many lumens do you need? Rechargeable or replaceable batteries best? I have a Princeton Tec Remix. I run with it for all of my morning runs. Batteries last almost a year. I'm not sure that it would be the best choice for night trail runs but it does the trick for urban/suburban runs. I also use a Nathan LightSpur on my shoe. |

I don't think that he's in the water yet. Due ot the swim course reset and the fact that they are now only using one dock for the swim start, it's slow going at the start. That's a long time to wait in 50 degrees and wet :-( On the up side, the swim is taking people 15-20 minutes. It looks like Adam might be getting some rain at AtomicMan as well. (I really need to stop stalking and get on my bike!) |

How many lumens do you need? Rechargeable or replaceable batteries best? i had ( until I somehow managed to sever the cable) This Head lamp. It is very comfortable and recharable. Down side to recharg is if you are doing a multi day trail race and don’t have access to a place to recharge it! That was my situation at RAGNAR Alafia a couple of years ago. Other than that it was nice not to have to worry about batteries. The lumens were fine for most runs, but I found I wanted/ needed more for a night trail race I did with it. When I buy again I think I’ll get at least 300 lumens. ETA: This looks like a good lamp- is both rechargeable and takes regular batteries plus it is 350 lumens. About $70 on Amazon .
