About every six weeks or month or so in the spring and summer and fall, when I arrive at my favorite park, knowing there is a 50 mile road bikeride in front of me with 1500 feet of elevation change every 22 miles and I have 3 or 4 hours to ride, that puts a smile on my face.  There's deer, owls, coyotes, red tail hawks, the woods and serenity.

Also, when I figure out how to post pics again, the black/white mix Cavalier spaniel / Japanese Chin that we rescued last week.  When I get up for a swim and when I come home, she's there at the door with her underbite...

This helps.

That and a couple of shots of Jack.

Ummmm..... no shots required if I had that.  BTW, just had second 3 hour session on my back tattoo and was quite painful.  Had to find my happy place at times and flashed back to a trip to Disney California and remembered my daughter at the age of 2 while waiting to see Winney the Pooh.  About every two minutes (and for anyone that hasn't waited in line to see him, the wait is almost 2 hours) she would yell out "POOOOOOHHH BEEEEAAAARRR!!!".  Of course she was a hit toeveryone in line.  Unfortunately she fell asleep like 2 minutes before getting to Pooh but the memory will always make me smile!

My dog + snow = Happiness! We do not regularly get snow around here so anytime it snows she stops at the doorway, looks out, cocks her head, looks at me till I say something and then bound into it romping around and playing with it like a puppy again (she is 9 yo so it is really funny with her grey hair to see her doing it.)

I looked over this morning to see my 5year old son sitting at the breakfast table (alone) with his eyes closed and hands folded saying grace before he ate.  No one asked him to.

These are the times when I think, "OK, maybe we did a few things right."

The other day I let my lab out for a run in the backyard.  The area I was standing in was completely covered with sheer ice......

After a few minutes, I stupidly called him back to me and he ran at me full force (typical lab), tried to stop, slid on the ice and hit my knees, sending my feet out behind me and causing me to fall flat onto his back and then we both crashed to the ground.

I have to get a smaller dog.

My 8 yr old son has been making pop-up cards for his mother recently.  His original sayings in the cards:

1.  Stars don't know the difference between love and flowers.

2.  No matter what you score, you will always rank.

Made me smile.  Still trying to figure out the first one.

My son nabbed the bag for my workout cords, so naturally he decided to wear it as a hat and sit on the floor singing the happy song (his version: "Hap! Hap! Hap! Hap!) and clapping his hands.
