I am defintely not ripped like that guy, but here's a mid-packer. To calm my nerves before IMFL, my wife made me put on a thong ... and there is no way I am showing the back. That would just be wrong.

Everyone knows the ideal physique is the Quads of Doom, with a little extra padding around the mid-section as shown in this example:

As a married man I'm 100% comfortable in saying that is one good looking guy and someone who I'd like to resemble (if even remotely) if I could ever get rid of the 30lbs that have attached themselves to my @ss.

And as a single girl, I would say that that guy is what I would like my future husband to resemble

Dang, that's tasty, nice and lean, but nice, defined muscle mass. Yum...and to think I actually dated a guy (also a former triathlete) who looked like that...sigh...

really? So all i need to do is shave and gain about 10 lbs and I'd have a wife?
seems like a fair trade-off...

Ha ha...

Wow, unless I'm interpreting that wrong, there appears to be a pretty tightly-defined physical template for elite tritahletes-- little variation in height or body mass. Is that right?

The number in brackets is the Standard Deviation. Approximately 68 percent of values fall within plus or minus one standard deviation of the mean, and 95 percent fall within plus or minus two standard deviations of the mean. But that is accurate for a large population. This is a population of 9 (SD) and 6 (JD), so that doesn't really apply. But gives an idea

I got the full article from a friend recently. Here is an online link to the abstract:

unfortunately the article is not available for free.

As a male triathlete, I'd totally want to look like that. That's pretty cut up and "built".

Questions (honest answers please):

1. Does this guy focus on short distances or longer distances?

2. What could he be doing to keep this physique? Primarily TRI training or also heavy weight lifting?

3. If it's power to weight...what's his food consumption like?

I'm setting a few goals for myself to go shorter/faster (Oly's and HIMs) next year, hoping to get more explosive.

Let me know.

j.burnette - 2008-04-18 3:39 PM trixie.......thats just hot. Thats a mid-section that 99.9% of women would die for! Its better than Jessie's or any of the others posted above!!

I dunno - I'd take the abs of any of those girls. It's much harder for women to get a 6-pack - some of that is probably genetic. Seems as though "ripped abs" on women come in more varieties than do men (most men get the generic 6-pack). I'd be happy with any of the above options Not to downplay Trixie's abs by any means, I mean, they're ridiculously awesome! Just saying that a lot of women can't achieve that exact look.

I just wish I could see my abs.

BTW, I'm laughing so hard at some of these comments! What a way to start a Monday.

Pant, pant--I wanna chase #544 down in my next race, and then swoon at his feet.  Think I'd run a 5-minute PB to catch that! Sure not offering any photos of myself as ideal body type--I look like a white Kenyan. Probably couldn't make much more than three push-ups either. But I can probably swim a lot faster than they do.

I don't think you would HAVE to run a PB to catch that, Miss Overall Winner Champion
