Extreme Veteran  386   Fort Worth, TX |  Subject: I just won the Lychner Volunteer Award!!OK...I have to brag on me for a minute. I just got a very exciting call. Apparently I was nominated for the Lychner Volunteer Award for Victims Assistance in Texas, and I WON!!! Some of you know that I volunteer for a program called DART-Domestic Assult Response Team. I have a 6 hour shift where I monitor a police radio, and when domestic violence calls go out, I meet the officers at the scene. At the scene I provide crisis intervention to the victim and make sure the victim knows what services are avalible to them. This work has actually been a blessing to me in the past few months. It helped me to help Holly with the loss of Lisa. So not only have I been able to help strangers, it prepared me to help people that I love. This is so cool, and I'm so excited! Theres a banquet to go to and EVERYTHING! WooHoo!! |
