Well, I just got into this great sport, and my dad gave me his old Super Alan that he used to race on when he was a cat-2 racer. I was born in 1990, and this bike was born around 1972-4. This is retro, and very awesome. The only new things are the Bontrager wheels, shoe clips, water bottle holder, cassette & chain, and the clip for the HRM and cyclometer

And here is a picture of the aerobars I will be using, also from the 70's:

I'm not sure they made bikes that long ago to be twice as old as I.

Pretty sweet.  Is that an aluminum or steel frame?

Nice looking bike.

x2. For me that would be one of those huge front wheel thingies, seeing as I'd have to go back to 1927...

Oooh, older than twice as old. My commuter bike is from 1937.

Aluminum. For being as old as it is, it still runs so well.

+/- 1963 - All original. It's only a few years older than me.
It breaks apart into 2 sections...this must have been before they realized how to use a hinge.

PS...your dad is THE MAN for holding on to it and handing it down to you. Make sure to show him that you appreciate it and enjoy it!

Those are Scott DH aerobars.  Supposedly, designed by The Man himself, Dave Scott.  I bought a pair as soon as they hit the market in 1986.  I thought I was sooooo cool. They are terribly uncomfortable and was happy when I finally got some clip ons in 1997.

Sweet bike, very nice.

The bars though are from the mid 80s. Scott DH I believe. There is a clue on the bars that help date it. Notice the neon? All tri stuff was neon from about 84-88.

I'm currently holding on to a 1982 Colnago Oval CX...beautiful bike!  I never ride it...it just sits there gaining value as the years pass.  Every now and then I show it a little love with the duster, but that's it.

Nice looking bike- I like the mix of old and new components. Thing looks wicked light, too.

I gotta say, though, as much as I appreciate vintage-y bike stuff: those aerobars leave something to be desired, aesthetically. Also, I noticed the brake levers are attached to the aerobar extensions- doesn't this preclude you from stopping unless you're in the aero position? Is that safe?
