Give me your best motivational quotes applying to triathlons. sometimes a quote motivaties the heck out of you when you find your self in the "why the hell do i do this to myself" mindset. a recent one i found and like was

"go ahead under estemate me, assume im not kicking my everyday, assume i wont sweat sacrifice for this, go ahead and underestimate me, because on race day youll never see me coming"

hell yea!! reminded me when i first kicked my friends who can run a sub 5 min mile but i destroyed him on the bike at a duathlon he said i would never ever beat him

I think it goes:

`If you can't do something well, excel at doing it poorly.'

Or something. So motivating!!!

I got my first tattoo about a year and a half ago. It is on my side from just below my armpit to my waist and it reads:

"Permanence, perseverance and persistence in spite of all obstacles, discouragements and impossibilities; it is this that in all things distinguishes the strong soul from the weak."

One glance down to my side and I'm back in it.

part of my IM mental training required me to come up with "race mantras"

     ®    RFM (relentless forward motion)

®    Slow is smooth. Smooth is fast.

®    As the day gets longer, I get stronger.

®    Just keep swimming, just keep swimming, swimming, swimming, what do we do we swim, swim, swim

®    Calm, glide, ignore [swim]

®    No day but today

®    Don’t think you are. KNOW you are.

Sig line... I run to this song and sometimes it really just speaks to me.

My other quotes from my log:

Randy Paush: "The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough. They're there to stop the other people."

When you finish an Ironman, its like you suddenly have this card that sits in your back pocket, that sits with you for the rest of your life. That tells you that you can achieve so much more than you ever thought you could. - (Added by: jknapman)

"Ironman is journey, first and foremost, inside myself. I wanted to find out what was deep inside me at mile 20 when 134 miles had stripped away all shields of adrenaline, caffeine, and glycogen and I was just left with my inner core, my spirit."- Dgillen- 2008 IMLP RR

“Live. More than your neighbors. Unleash yourself upon the world and go places. Go now. Giggle. No. Laugh. And bark at the moon like the wild dog that you are. Understand that this is not a dress rehearsal. This is it. Your life. Face your fears and live your dreams and take it all in. Yes, every chance you get. Come close. And by all means, whatever you do, get it on film.” John Blais - 2005 Ironman with ALS (Time: 16:28:58)

My daughter's XC team has this written on the back of their team shirts.  I wondered where it came from.
