Ok... They are starting to stockpile up on a couple nails in the garage.  Any better way to display them?? Need some suggestions!

I just saw a frame at one of the craft store (hobby lobby or JoAnnes - someplace like that.)  It had a soft back that you can lay your medals on and hold them in place with the glass.

I thought about breaking the medals into years and have a frame for each year.  I would take the ribbon off of them and lay them in the frame.  Maybe even put a small tag under each one with a date, race, and finish time.  (or at least write the info on the back.

most of mine are strewn about my car andtransition bag.

a few this year, along with a few overall placing medals, i have given away to younger kids that were there with parents watching. oftentimes they are estatic to get them.

That is AWESOME. I love this idea. A reason to put my tree up next year. Heck, I could leave it up all year. Have my medal tree in my office. You have made my day.

Coat racks.  You can double/triple them up by wrapping the ribbon.  Much cheaper than a "medal rack".

I keep mine on my office wall at work.  It helps me remember why I work, to pay for entrance fees 8).

That's the way to go for sure. Removing the ribbon and adding a traditional ornament hanger makes is easier to hang, albeit less colorful is most cases.

I have mine hanging in the empty spots on my corkboard in the home office, but I read an idea on this forum (I think) about gluing magnets from a craft store to the back of them and using them as fridge magnets.

I like the Christmas tree idea too.

I'm planning on purchasing a curtain rod and hanging it up high on my workout room wall. Then I'll just loop the ribbons of the medals around the rod to hang them.

http://www.medals4mettle.orgis a cool idea.  I love my medals so I will not be donating but if you do not care it sounds like a really cool idea.  IT makes sense they are talking about using unused medals from races like the Chicago marathon but I always thought there number 1 rule is that the medal has to have been earned.  So its a way of showing someone you care about what they are going through by giving up something you worked very hard for.

I have them on my wall put up with thumb tacks.  I have my first marathon finisher medal next to my first bib number and my finisher photo right next to my pc because I do look at them a lot.

I cannot tell  what you are trying to say here. These people cannot "earn" the medals they are given. Instead they are rewarded for fighting their own fight. I may just be being hyper-sensitive, but it comes off like you disapprove of this practice...

on second reading i see what you mean, i think. You are referring to giving away extra medals, not ones that are donated by someone who ran in a race right?

Don't remove the ribbons before you hang them on the tree.

i think what the poster was trying to say is the medal that is being donated is supposed to be earned by the person who is donating it..(i.e. ran x marathon, completed x race, etc.. not just left over medals) not that the persont hat is receiving it should have to "earn" it..
