I am currently studying at N.U. with the College of Professional Studies. UMass 1992-1996 I was on the sidelines when we lost to Kentucky in the Final Four. NU 1997 - 1999 I was the Captain of the Cheer Squad. I actually have my entire educational story on my blog. (It is really about my ADHD.) I was first diagnosed at UMass, and the coach at NU helped me get my life on track. |

I went to all girls private college for grad school and they were the "Katies". St. Kate's, how original of you. When I was a little girl I went by Katie it was impossible to find the name spelled with an "ie" everyone wanted to spell it with a Y. When I was 16 and got my first job I decided I needed a "more sophistocated" name and have been Kate ever since. Now I see people spelling Katie with an "ie" all the time. |

Champion 5376 PA | Subject: RE: What were your school mascots? Ours was a Rocket but no matter what they did, it always looked like a big pickle to me because our colors were green and white. There is a school in Lebanon, PA who has a Cedar Tree for a mascot. Talk about intimidating. lol |

I love reading all these, especially because some of them are high schools I coached against (Rock Island Rocks, PV Spartans, Freeport Pretzels). Jr. High - Bee Bees! (HS in the district was the Bullets. How cool...) High School - Blazers! (sounds cooler than it really is...we were named after our blue dress blazers that used to be part of our uniform! The guys got to be the Cyclones) Undergrad - Queen Bees (soccer cheer was "AHHHHH Sting 'em! Guys were just the Fighting Bees) Coach - Pioneers Law School - GOLDEN EAGLES! (finally a cool mascot after all these years!) Went to undergrad with a guy whose high school mascot was the Barb, because the guy who invented barbed wire was from his hometown! Gotta love mascots! |

High School- Greyhounds undergrad College 1 - Varsity Reds (and you folks thought New England colleges were liberal) here's our mascot General Joe with the Chairman of the Department of Revolution, Prof. Mao  undergrad 2- Axemen, so yeah, the mascot's a guy with an axe. Best part - I had a good friend in college whose HS mascot was the Big Pine or something. *snerk*! The women's teams were the Lady Jacks. Hm. Lumberjacks did make for a lot of really good fightin' words, though. Undergrad: None. Zero. Zip. Zilch. According to this article, we are one of three Div III NCAA schools without one. Go H's!! Grad: Wildcats. Meh. Good hockey, though. In college we played the Quakers, and they were far and away the dirtiest team in the league. Yep, really. We were summarily informed that one did NOT have to be Quaker to attend. Yah think? And really, Pretzels is awesome, but who can forget the RI School of Design Scroties??
