Extreme Veteran  801   Ballston Spa, NY |  Subject: A little guy just joined the family!Last Tuesday night we got a call about a little boy that was going up for adoption. Mandy (wife) and I went to meet the people that had custody of him and meet the little guy himself. We were pretty much interviewing, in a way, to be selected as the future parents of this little guy. Well, we were selected on the spot and told to pick him up the next morning. Wednesday morning we picked him up. He was born on Sunday (10/31/10) on Halloween. He is half hispanic and half black. His mom was 4'9" so the height thing might be an issue for me considering I'm 6'6"! We named him Keaton (cuz it's cool) Jared (brother in laws first name)   Anyways, just thought I would share. I know I'm new around these parts but figured I had to open up sometime! |

Extremely adorable picture of the family together and "KJ" is a cutey! Jared is a GREAT name (I'm not biased - just ask my 2nd son). Big Brother, Brayson, is also adopted so he was pretty excited about getting a little brother. And it was cool to bring him along so he could see that not everyone has babies the same and that sometimes it's different for some families. |

How long did it take for you to get from the initial decision to adopt again to actually getting this little guy? Most of the people I know who have adopted went out of the country, so I am just really curious about this. He's a doll. Congrats! |

Most of the people I know who have adopted went out of the country, so I am just really curious about this. He's a doll. Congrats! We waited about 3 years for the call...eesh! We actually had to talk about it to see if we were interested so much time had passed since we got our first little guy (Brayson). When we first decided to be adoptive parents we waited about 10 days before we got the call for the first one and we only had 4 hours notice to go get him. With Keaton, we had about 16 hours notice before picking him up...so that was a cake walk lol. |
