Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 1:30 with a REALLY bad sore throat, coughing and generally feeling like crap. Tried to sleep on/off until the alarm went off at 330. Showered and took off. Ate a powerbar and drank amino vital on the drive. About 1/2 way there, it started pouring down rain.
Event warmup:

Stood around waiting for the start with Trixie, rkreuser, PTinVA, G8RLA, Rennick, golfingods & Gatorgirl, & cavu9. Had to pee, the lines to the portapotties were too long, so I followed Trixie's lead and just squated right there and went! Agh! Much better! Ready to run now!!

Comments:

Started off planning to stay with Chris (golfingods), but my belly started complaining a little after mile 2, so I let him go and I walked a bit. I remembered a conversation that he was a sympathetic puker, and I didn't want him to throw up with me!! Threw up at mile 3 and felt MUCH better! Decided I was gonna try to catch Chris, and ran a bit too hard, my belly grumbled, so I slowed back down. Turned on my nano and got in a groove.

It rained on/off the entire run, but just when I was getting REALLY hot, it rained REALLY hard! Saw Rick & Trixie on the first turn-around...gave a big WOO WOO (for fitphd) and trudged on! The wind was just stooopid today. Weather report says 35 mph gusts, it sure felt like it was gonna blow me over, especially on the overpasses and all those damn drawbridges!! I LOVE hills!!

Saw Rick & Trixie on the next turn-around...WOO WOOO! Then...the belly grumbled and so the next several minutes were spent enjoying the comfort of a portapotty. Saw Sue spectating shortly after, yelled hello to her! On my return turn-around I saw the rest of the gang clump #1: chimpmunkheart, cavu9, tri take me away, then clump #2 g8rla & Rennick. Lucy caught me and we ran together for a bit, I slowed to answer my phone, and she kept trucking!

As I had 1 mile left, I saw Chris...he looked GREAT!! I was glad I was done, but felt SO much better today than previous runs, I was kinda sad I didn't run the full mary. Oh, well! There's always next year!

I escaped with only 4 blisters on my left foot and 3 on the right, BUT I got blisters under each boob. WTF?? I guess it's from my HRM strap rubbing underneath my bra. Gonna have to work on fixing that problem!!
What would you do differently?:

Not spend so damn much time with bodily functions!
Post race
Warm down:

Met up with the BT gang (Haley & Aaron were awesome and stayed all day with the BT banner and snacks!! Thanks guys!) Got some food, hung out a bit for the other finishers, then went for a HOT shower! Then...went back to see the marathoners finish. Chris did an awesome job losing his marathon virginity, Sue hit a PR, and Renee also lost her cherry hand in hand with Max. It was an awesome event!! :) Congrats to everyone!! :)

Wow, what a day for the PT girlie!!!

Fantastic job!  I am cracking up that you were talking on the phone during the race.  Sorry that you didn't feel fantastic, but that certainly didn't seem to get you down.

Glad you guys had fun!!

Yeah- I didn't see anyone from BT after I took off- I was looking at the ground the entire time, I had no idea we even ran thru Davis Island, lol. Anyways, a great performance even though you felt like crapola. Do you have a tradition of puking at every race?

Get better girl!! See ya in April!

Great job finishing even though you felt horrible.  Takes guts!  Now....NO puking at St A's!!  I don't want to have to dodge chum while I'm swimming!

Congrats on finishing with a smile and glad you had a great time with the BT clan!

Nice race Wendi...I don't usually have issues with "boob blisters" but if you can let me know how to avoid them on my feet from my high heel straps, let me know!  It was good to meet you...let's do this again next year!

I'd say you should wear those boob blisters like twin badges of honour! You worked hard for those bad-boys.

Way to go!

Interesting. I usually get blisters when I overtrain a certain area without enough lube. How does one overtrain one's boobs?  heh heh

Way to see it all through, you are way tough, grrrr.

As always, another spectacular weekend - and a great race given the Niiiiiice weather, the rumbly tumbly, the extensive training you've done, and the crapola being sick.  You ran sooo well considering; give yourself a pat on the back.

Cal and Casey really really dug my 'tri friends', and Cal was happy to have spent time with Ben on Saturday...pass on a big 'hi' to him from Cal...

And what is this 'woo woo' stuff from fit?!  Didn't I just take crap for that in MY race report?! Sheesh...

Boy oh boy, I miss one race and look what happens.  You're one very funny triathlete.  If you're not puking chum, you're blistering the ladies on the way to a spectacular finish.  Who said triathon didn't come with learning curve(s)?

Nice race in spite of the obstacles.
