Here we go!  Registered for B2B yesterday.  Fully recovered from Ironman Florida and ready to start the training.  Gained 20 pounds since IF on Nov 5th.  Not good.

Glad someone started a new B2B thread!

I'm in - It'll be #5 in a row in Wilmington...The combination of location and time of year makes B2B an easy call.

Good luck to all with training.

I'm in!  I just completed IMFL with Paul!  20 lbs... Yikes!  What have you been eating?!?  Pizza and donuts?

IMFL was my first.  I wish I had signed right back up for next year, but since athlete registration was the day BEFORE the race, I was still uncertain if I would ever want to do it again.  But it was SO much fun that I can't wait to go the distance again!  we're glutton for punishment, aren't we?

Signed the virtual dotted line for my first IM distance race.  I hope NC treats me well in 2012!

Does anyone know how to read tide charts? I saw on the old B2B thread where individuals discussed it but am very ignorant on interpreting them and how fast it will make the swim in 2012 compared to other years. Thanks.

My wife and I did B2B Full 2011.  The cold nearly defeated me, but as soon as I was finished, I was ready for another try at B2B.  We will be at IMFL this year, but good luck to everyone there.  Its a great race, and I hope you have better weather.

Gluttons for punishment? Yes we are!  I hurt my hip at Ironman Florida and I was taking some down time.  Its been better for some time now and I have to get my fat lazy butt in gear!  I have been doing nothing.

I guess you read the Race Report. Hope you liked it. I learned a lot about myself that day. I completely fell apart and wasn't 3 hours into the day. It's crazy the emotions I went through. All because I wouldn't adjust my plan. Once I couldn't do my "best race," I mentally checked out. The weather then just shut me down. How can you prepare for pulling yourself together once your hiding in a port-a-potty? I honestly tried to anticipate everything. I didn't anticipate the need to adapt and it almost earned me my first DNF. You guys will have much better weather, but my best advice is to realize when things are heading south and start adapting early. Don't wait until you has to do damage control.

Don't worry about it.  The B2B folks have been doing this a long time.  They know one of the attractions of this event is swimming with a fast current.  They choose the date to correspond with the tide coming in during the swim time.  The tidal current is very predicable - 99% due to the moon.

You may reasonably expect the boost from the current (and the wetsuit buoyancy, and the salt water buoyancy) reducing your pool swim time for the same distance by 20% to 30%.

My pool swim time for 3800m was 1:12:00.  My B2B swim time was 0:50:00.  2011 was a very fast current year, and I navigate well, and I stayed to the left side in deeper water, and I cut the corners as close as legal.

You do not need to know how to read the tide charts.  Don't worry about it.  Spend more time calibrating your clothing selections so you know to wear your gloves and arm warmers on the bike when it's 50F and misting - hint with wind chill it feels like 40F.

I read your race report and was very impressed with your day.  I went throught the same emotions as you after about an hour on the bike.  I was miserable and I started thinking about not finishing. It is funny how you go into a race with good thoughts and plans and then everything changes.

My friend, who has done B2B the last two years, did exactly what you did this year. He stopped at special needs and went into the porta-pot and stayed in there for like ten minutes, eating a clif bar, until someone started beating on the door.

You had a great race and great job gutting it out!

I'm visiting Wilmington for xmas..It really is a swell place to have a 140.6.

It's probably 300 days until B2B 2012 but sitting here at a coffee shop on the run course brings the scope of the undertaking into vivid detail...There's a whole bunch of training and racing to do between now and then but I think, and maybe this is the caffeine talking, it's gonna be a great day..

I counsel planning on wind, though - It's blowing like nobody's business today.

Quite possible!  I doubt I would drive down there to sign up, but I may try online registration.  We'll see how I feel after B2B.

Just not sure how many years in a row I'll want to go this distance considering the 5 to 6 months of sacrifices for it.  But at the same time, it is addictive.  IMKY could be an option.

I loved Ironman Florida.  I was really dreading it as it was my first Ironman.  From the moment I stepped into the water until I crossed the finish line it was a Blast!.  The volunteers and the people of Panama City really made it a great experience.  I am thinking of doing it again in 2013.

Registered for the Ocean Drive Marathon in Cape May New Jersey March 25th.  Nice way to get the Ironman running training up to speed early.  Did this on as my first marathon in 2003.  Its cold but alot of fun.  Anyone else in the area up for it?

I am going for a PR...

How we doin', B2B peeps? I'm spending more time on strength than S/B/R these days, so volume is quite low. Oh, well..Tomorrow's another day.

Did everyone get the email from Setup re Bone Island(Key West) full and half? Love the idea but it would take some re-orientation to train for a race right after the holidays. We'll see..

Hey all!  I just signed up for B2B.  It will be my first IM and I can't wait!  I've heard great things about this race and I'm so glad I changed my plan to do this one instead.  (I was going to do HITS Cooperstown since I live in NY.)

I would love to hear as much about this race as possible, and get to know all of you so there's some friendly faces come race day.

Welcome Regina,

The link below is me last Sunday doing the Icicle 10 miler in Wilmington Delaware.  I have posted this embarrasing link to show that I have been lazy since the full Ironman on November 5th in Panama City.  Gained 26 pounds.  This is my before picture.  The after picture will be posted when the 26 pounds are gone.  ha.

Good luck to you with your training.

Thanks for the links. I am definitely interested in this event. Might not register until after the B2B. I hope it will still be open.
