Pre-race routine:

Got dressed for race, packed up everything for E, A, and me. Went to Panera for some pre-race food.
Event warmup:

Chased E around the park trying to keep her busy before the race.
  • 42m 28s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 13m 44s  min/mile

Really hot and humid, even with starting at 8 pm. The idea was to run with glow sticks and have it be dark, but it wasn't quite dark when we started. Dark at the end, but it would have been way too dark to run at that point.

Ran most of the time, but definitely had to take some walk breaks. The humidity was killing my asthma and we started off way too fast.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. The goal was to have fun and do the run as a family, which we definitely did.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, got some popsicles, then walked back to the car.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat and humidity

Great job, evening run in humidity isn't so much fun but it looks like you and the family had fun anyway.

At this rate, E is going to have more 2013 races under her tutu than me Wink Way to get out there as a family. I need to get my brood to do a couple this year.

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?
