I feel like swim caps are reaching a critical mass in my house. Yesterday I couldn't find a coaster for my drink, so had to use a swim cap instead.

Seriously, I'm curious what everyone does with their caps after races.

I use them for training.
But on BT that probably makes me a tool looking for attention since they have race distances on them...

Put them in a gallon ziplock
shake a bunch of corn starch or baby powder on them
shake the baggie up really good so the caps won't anneal to one another as they will do if you don't do that step.

Mail them to Yanti.

I throw them away.  The smell funny, tear my hair, and don't stay put. I am gifted in the head size category, so I prefer to wear a spandex cap for training.  It's less "racy", but WAY more comfy.  I have one high quality silicone cap in yellow for open water swim.

use them for training hate buying something that I do not have to. Wear them in the pool. I have long hair that would be a pain without wearing a cap.

if it has a race logo on it, it goes into a box with bibs, race programs and medals. For the rest I either use them for training (OWS only) or pitch them.

I keep them however I'm not sure why as I rarely swim in them outside of racing.

Having said that, I have a slight hi-jack question.  At races I see so many different attempts at wearing the caps, from those pulled down low and below the goggles to the other extreme of it barely fitting over the tip of the head....In the latter example I think the swimmer is just technically meeting the requirement they wear the cap vs. the others looking like they are expecting to keep their ears air tight...

Some caps look smooth and have no wrinkles, others look like mine feels, that it's not on right and is tight (wrinkle free) in some areas, bunchy in others...

Having said all that, what is the best way to put on a swim cap (I shave my head but it's a big melon) so I don't feel like I'm ripping skin YET get the benefits of wearing it in the water...

I shave my head so don't really need them for training. I always ask around in transition when packing up post race if anyone wants it. If I can't give it away I throw it away.

I use them in pools that require swim caps. It may just be me, but I find that they are easier to get over my hair, than the ones I have bought in stores.

An additional question would be: What are some creative things that you could do with the extra swim caps?

Suggestion # 1 - Put them over rocks in your rock garden.

My kids carry a couple to every race along with a sharpie.  They have frames with caps signed by Chrissy, Hunter Kemper, the Brownlee's, Sarah Hastings, Crowie, Macca,  blah, blah, blah.  I guess it only works if you're a kid, but they look pretty cool framed and on their walls.

x2, what else would you do with them honestly?  Unless your framing them like LB's kids....but those are signed caps.  I'd say most of us have a drawer full of NOT signed caps.  I figure, who cares what it says on it.  I could be wearing an IM branded cap but that doesn't mean I've done one.  None of mine say "finisher".

One thing to note is that I always keep TWO caps on hand for training.  Last year I was popping a cap on in the locker room and it tore clean in half.  It wasn't even an old cap.  For a second I thought I'd have to change back into my clothes to go back out to the gym's cafe/shop and PURCHASE a cap for probably $5 when I have a drawer full at home.  Luckily the lifeguard had an extra one in his office.  From that point on I always packed two!

I keep about 4 bright colored ones in my OWS bag. I've ripped ones in the past and like having a spare.
I've also shared them with new OWS'rs who didn't have one.
And I've given some of my extras to the high school swim coach; she seemed appreciative.

This has happened to me too - and was REALLY happy that I had a spare to be able to use.  I've also given them away to others at the pool if someone looks like they want/need one.

Any swim cap from a race where it was required to have a sticker on the cap gets tossed, otherwise they all seem to make it through the training rotation at some point.

Put them on my head when I swim. They really don't seem to last that long.

I always swim with a cap on because I wear silicone earplugs and they seem to stay in place better with a cap on and always a red or orange cap when I'm in open water.  I want to be as visible as possible.

I do accumulate quite a few caps but if they have no logo and are not very bright I toss them.

I fasten them together with duct tape and shape them into a big balloon. Then I fit a lawn chair to the bottom it with string creating a harness. Then I hold a hair dryer up the hole to inflate and I then I escape over the prison wall. I then do a race, get caught and repeat.

I have a very annoying pain under my knee cap. It does not hurt when I run or ride. It hurts a lot when I swim and when I walk up or down stairs. The pain is a searing pain. Help!
