Garmin died. I bought a new Forunner 910XT. Complete swim, run, and bike. Works well. Couldn't upload to Strava. Strava, a friend of mine who is an analyst, and myself could not get it to work. My 14 year old daughter told me "Dad if I can get it to upload will you buy me some kind of shoe" well she did and that cost me another $54.00. Different culture coming up.

Captex Tri is Monday is Austin I am already nervous.

Random stuff:

TX I've been down that road so many times I'm beginning to suspect sabotage when daughters need a new _____ (fill in the blank).

Re The anger issue, this is what a friend of mine that just moved back to Boston after being out of the country for the last 20+ years had to say: One thing I have thought as an inital impression here is a dichotomy which may be just part of a cultural adjustment for someone who has been gone so long. There is the outer friendliness which is typically American but there is also brash/highly aggressive streak that sometimes grates that I am having an issue with.

I think I had one too many coffees this morning.

3 hours 10 minutes to go (and counting).

Hiyooo, TAN!

Just a bit of a drive-by.  Busy, busy at work these days.

Just dropped off my FrankenBike with TriBike Transport this morning.  I will see it next a week from tomorrow at Escape from Alcatraz.  Flying out Thursday morning... starting to get SUUUUPER excited & nervous!   Last big workout coming up Sunday, then it's all race week recovery stuff.

Anyone else see the new Godzilla, yet?  Took the GF to see it this past Saturday... it was a really fun movie, very well done!

Gah!  You just reminded me that I still need to book TBT for IMChoo... and maybe start actual training for the race?

We're planning on seeing Godzilla this weekend - but I think Tony is still conflicted on whether the big Japanese lizard is the protagonist or the antagonist in the story.

haha...

Mine are pretty pathetic.  I forgot the last couple days though.

Anyway Bai, TAN.  Off to Cali for the weekend.  Just me and hanging at the bio dad's beach house.  Plan to golf, swim in the Pacific and do some running.  Should be nice.  Back Sunday night so I can have memorial day with the wife.

Everyone be safe.  Don't eat that nasty beef of hummus that's getting recalled at any BBQ's.

Hiya TAN!

$54 for a teenagers shoes? Getting off easy, Dad.
Was Godzilla good?

Work story:
Setting up for a huge company/media event, my co-worker (Whom I don't know very well but is super nice) calls me over to talk through a problem that arose. When I get there she is just sighing loudly and looking around, like she is debating whether or not to tell me. I'm like "what's the issue?" and she hee-haws around and the store manager is just shrugging his shoulders like "how can I help?" she is pretty much REFUSING to talk to me except for some fragments about signage I can't get her to elaborate on. I have no time for drama, just tell me! But she won't. I leave and she follows me and sits down. OK she will tell me now that we're alone. Spit it out. Nothing - she keeps sighing dramatically and wringing her hands and muttering to herself. Still no real sentences coming out. This goes on for at least 7 or 8 minutes. WTF is going on?

I move to the mangers office to make some phone calls and soon she is in there - and I see her open the manager's candy jar and start shoving candy in her mouth very fast. I ask if she has blood sugar issues or something and she tells me she is Type 1 Diabetic! OMG I should have seen the signs (she had been sweating and shaky - like I said I have no idea what is normal behavior for her)... she was crashing. I felt bad that I did not realize all of this but not sure how I would have known.

It's just another day here in the retirement village.

Is it slow in Spain because your U.S. counterparts are off today?

Pretty much. When financial markets in US and London are closed the rest of the world pretty much sleeps.

Four long days if my start to the short week is any indication. At least I had a good weekend including a great bike ride and some trail running for the first time. Well, it was about 50/50 hiking and running but fun, I will definitely be taking advantage of the trails near my house for more of it.

so the weekend of june 7/8 i have nothing really going on.  there are 2 local tris - should i do the cheaper sprint that is further away on saturday or the slightly more expensive but really close to home oly on sunday?  in case it matters, saturday's post-race food is crab cakes, sunday's is pizza.  HELP ME FIGURE OUT MY LIFE PLEASE.

also note the amount of purple and green in my logs...
