Today according to my running log I was going to total 100 miles running for the month. I decided I would try to mark this milestone with a 10K training run (my favourite distance to date) and go for a PB.
Well I smashed my previous PB by a whopping 2 1/2 minutes! (49:40) I'm pretty stoked about that.
I felt good and strong all the way. Which leads me to ask myself the question have I been sandbagging previously?

Ian

That's a good time - 8:16 minutes/mile!  I think we need to occasionally put ourselves into race situations to prove that our training is effective.  In your case I don't think your training was sandbaging...it was (obviously) just good training.

I don't know if you've been sandbagging, although I'd guess you haven't. Sometimes we just have days when it all falls into place and we PB huge. Way to go! Enjoy it, and keep up the great work...keep taking that time lower!

Way to go Ian! My first 10K of the fall is next Saturday and I hope it is under an hour. Maybe I will have "one of those days" like you!

Great run! If you did that in training, I'm willing to bet there is an even lower time for a race scenario. I'm a firm believer in race day magic and feeding off the energy of an event.
