Just curious. Personally, i do tris/dus for the fun of it but am more concerned with strength training/bodybuilding. Nutrition plays a big part lately for me. Curious how others feel.

I am meticulous with my nutrition. >90% of what I eat is highly nutritious and good for my body.    <10% of what I eat is not nutritious at all, but it's built into my plan and good for my well-being.

I pretty much eat anything and everything I want with little cares about it .... I do try to eat smart to get a balance of stuff, but I also eat a lot of junk.

Hello,

I am quite new to endurance sports, but my diet (lifestyle of eating) is very important. As one that  weighed 325lbs nearly 3 years ago diet is an important aspect of my life. Diet really isn't a good word in my mind, but it is all part of the lifestyle change that I made so that I can be healthy, physically and mentally fit, and hopefully live a long and fruitful life.

As long as that "try" is in quotation marks, I'm in.

And Bill is underselling himself with that 90%.  Those Texas Burgers don't come along too often.

Well I'm trying to loose about 20 lbs to get down to 170 for my first season. I keep an online food journal and I log EVERYTHING, even the crap. It really helps me see what I'm putting into my body and I always review my logs every three days or so to see what changes I need to make. I've realized at my ripe old age of 25 that nutrition plays a big part in the way I feel throughout the day and that it has a big impact on performance. I feel better when I'm eating clean and keeping track of what I eat.

I eat a lot cleaner from Jan to early October but this time of year I let myself slide a little bit on that kinda stuff.

I really try to watch what I eat, but I'm not very good about it.  I'm getting better, but it's a struggle for me.

I also could have checked "That's what got me into tris".  At least when I'm training regularly, I can eat more.

i do my best to eat healthy, but its soo easy to fall to the way side and get lost there. at one time i weighed in at 240 and my lowest as of yet is 209 i am back at 213 today. goal 190. i dont log what i eat, maybe i should. those of you who do, do you feel it help control the bad eating?

Im taking the "off" season to try and gain 10 lbs. The diet has become even more critical. I swear its harder to gain 10lbs of lean muscle than lose 10 lbs of fat.

The toughest part is giving up the beers on fridays/football sundays.

BTW, grats to all of you who have said they used to be "x" lbs and lost it all with hard work. Its a tough road, good luck to you!

I log what I eat and try to eat healthy all the time...fruit, veggie and lean protein and avoiding all processed foods. It is tough, but worth it to me. It isn't a diet any more but a way of life. I've lost 95 pounds and hope to lose another 10-15 this off season to get to my ideal weight for IMLP training.

If I eat crap I feel like crap and gain weight as my body is very efficient.

I watch what I eat most of the time but am not going to feel guilty if I have something "bad" once in a while.  I've lost 50 pounds--about half on weight watchers and half doing tri training, and have enjoyed the tri training a lot more than counting points.  Hopefully in the next year I can drop more weight and get faster.  The holidays are hard for me, but I am trying to plan ahead and keep my hands off the treats. Otherwise I should survive it!  I am totally addicted to triathlon....as I already said, it is much more fun than weighing meals.

That said, I try try try to eat fruit, veggies, lean protein and whole foods as much as I can.  And I love smoothies.

Not I! I eat pretty much everything that's put in front of me. Most is non-processed, good stuff tho.

I hope wild turkeys don't, because they have been following me all over South Jersey to watch me ride and run. I hope this doesn't mean I'm about to be dinner for them!!

That's my diet. I'm trying to be better about nutritious stuff. I am also taking a multi vitamin because I know I'm missing LOTS of vitamins and minerals due to my lackluster diet. I love me a cheeseburger, fries and a regular Coke. I love hot dogs. I love chili. I love craptacular food. I can't control myself!

I make sure I don't eat too much crappy food if I don't have a high volume of training going on.

haha. They sure do. If I decide to take my revenge, it's gonna be free turkeys for everyone on BT !

All kidding aside, I do watch what I eat, but I allow myself to splurge a bit. I'll splurge a lot more in the off season, though. During the season, it's all healthy, healthy, healthy, aside from the occasional lunch or dinner out (but I never order fried foods or anything), a few desserts here and there .

I eat pretty healthy most of the time and lost 32lbs this season. Problem I now have is trying to keep it on. I tend to compensate my eating junk as I am always hungry. My weight doesn't budge now unless I drink beer 8-(

I don't even want to think how much I am going to have to eat during IM training next year to maintain my weight....

i eat healthy most of the time - but weekends can screw it up. . frequnetly i'll train all week (and on weekends) and eat healthy, then on friday or saturday, i'll get together with some friends and drink a beer or ten. typically, this makes me hungry around 11pm-2am and taco bell is the best bet in my town . ooh well, i guess that is what college is about, right?

For the most, I try to eat healthy. Mexican food and Peanut Butter Captain Crunch are my weaknesses. Weekends are much harder to stay strong when it comes to food.

Not exactly "bad diet" but I voted for the "I don't care" part.
