  • Comments: My favorite race, I don't try to do it for PR because it is capped at 40,000 participants and you have to be in the first few waves to really have a clear course. The overall winners did it in 28 minutes, local runners top field were around 31 minutes. Freaking FAST! Not sure how many women in my AF (50-54) but I was 432 of that group. 5801 of all women 9310 of 40,000 Not a bad day at all.

  • Comments: This is the best race!! There is no defining the way Richmond turns out to support the runners in this race. Somehow lost all my photos from the day. When the paper posts their link to all their photos I will get mine at least.

  • Comments: Huge community event. Just huge. There were so many waves of runners that I was finished before most people had started. Great organization -- and there were even sufficiently many porta-potties before the start. Great support along the route, and more bands than I've ever seen on a race route. Post-race food was a bit of a disappointment. But in all other respects it was a fantastic event.

  • Comments: I love the Monument 10K. The bands and fans are awesome. The water is plentiful. The organization is great. I can't say enough good things about this race, especially since they started verifying wave starts this year...I was in a great wave and didn't have to dodge any over-estimating walkers.

  • Comments: Crowd support in the race is great! Lots of spectators throughout, even this year in the rain. Yes it's crowded and a little crazy, but it makes it kind of fun to be a part of the chaos.

  • Comments: I love this race. This is the 2nd time I've done it and it has been awesome both times. It's a little crowded (25000-30000 registrants), but other than the first mile, the crowd actually helps me run better.

  • Comments: I love this race, can't explain why since it is so crowded but it is a fun race and the city of RIchmond really turns out to encourage the participants. The first time I did it was brutally hot and people who lived along the route were hosing down runners to help them cool off so you know folks love this race around here...

  • Comments: The best thing about this race is all the people who come out to cheer on the runners and are along the ENTIRE course. Cheerleading clubs, bands, residents with hoses sprinkling runners, etc. It's way fun.

  • Comments: It felt like everything was sort of chaotic when it comes to this race, but there are 20,000 people doing it and it's a fairly small area. It goes through residentiall neighborhoods and all of the people come out to support the runners.

  • Comments: The event was won by Kenyans. Sarah N., eat your heart out. Also, the Bush twins ran; they crossed the finish line together in under 55 minutes. (I'm in the tie-dye in the photo. Green shirt is Steve. Jonathan in front.)
