  • Comments: Looking at numbers, you would think this was a terrible race for me. But somehow it was the best day ever! Reston puts on a nice event, and with it so close, I can certainly see myself coming back to it year after year to gauge my improvement. And can we talk about the swag?! All told, I got a New Balance long sleeve tech shirt, tech socks, Scattante Bliss sunglasses, a multitool, a washcloth, and a finisher hat. And a really pretty medal! Yes, having two transitions is a bit annoying, and its lame that we can't swim in the lake except exactly during the event. But all told, this was a well run race with really nice volunteers. I will be back, and I will crush it!

  • Comments: I really like this race. Locally organized. This was the 31st time it's been held. Very well organized. My only criticism is the way the swim waves were organized but I think they have been hosting events on this lake for years and this is what works best for them. Would have liked a few more buoys.

  • Comments: This was my first Olympic and other than a difficult bike portion, I was happy with it. I think the swim and run courses were excellent. Also, this race has by far the best swag ever. I got an awesome tech T - much better quality than anything I've gotten before - socks, a towel, a run hat (great style and quality - I actually wear it), a bag, a cooler bag, and a water bottle. In spite of the difficult bike course and the pain-the-neck transition and early morning start, I think I will do this again next year.

  • Comments: Great local Oly distance race. This was year 30 for this organization and they know what they are doing! Always a blast. Great volunteers and nice finish line at the HS so lots of people can enjoy the runners coming in from the running paths! Great race and plan to keep it on the list of To Do's each year!

  • Comments: I loved this race. So well organized, what a great group of people. No medal afterword (not that it's really important, but I'm starting to dig my collection). Absolutely beautiful course for each event. Run course was a bit confusing and there was one volunteer that didn't direct on a turn so I lost probably 20 seconds (big whoop) but saw a big NO written on the course so I turned around. Love the swag we got this year. Was really above and beyond what I'm used to getting at a tri. The event organizers do a really good job and I'm very thankful they allowed me to register.

  • Comments: So, I left all I had out there but the results just weren't that satisfying. Yes, it was 30 seconds better than my 2010 time and technically a PR, but I just really felt that I had the ability to go sub-2:20. Oh well, I guess I can use that as motivation for next year.

  • Comments: Great local race with great giveaways and post race food. Just need to work on making the bike a bit safer (too narrow/crowded/bad pavement).

  • Comments: Overall I thought this was a well run, fun race. They had great facilities, and it was super easy for me to get to/from. Not so crowed that I was lost in the shuffle, but just crowded enough to have some good solid fun and competition. I now know why this race sells out in a day or two, I'll be back.

  • Comments: Very well run race. I think I will do this again next year. Nation's is all the way downtown and way more crowded - who needs it!

  • Comments: Absolutely loved this race! Great home town feeling, with folks cheering you on from every street corner. The bike loop is perfect for this. Spectators get a good view of swim, bike and the final loop of run around the football stadium. Would have liked to see more mile markers on the run - tough to follow course since run volunteers left early. It's tough being in the last wave - everyone leaves and the awards are nearly over by the time you get back :( everything is done.....still I would do it again. Nice race!

  • Comments: The hometown race. So this will stay on my calendar as long as I can do it. I was cold and raining in the moring. So, there were a few hindred racers that didn't even start. There was also a need for volunteers. On the bike course, way too many intersections were unmanned and the run course had 1 less aid station this year. But you can't blame volunteers. The Race Directors apparantly lost the volunteer list. I love this race. It's a chance for everyone to show what they are made of on home turf. It was great to have a lot of FeXY teammates out there on the course and volunteering. I am so proud of how my season has gone. Couldn't have asked for anything more. And to see Lisa once again, place in her age group and for her to throw down the #1 Female bike time is incredible. Team Albrecht - the Premier Married Triathlon Couple in Reston.

  • Comments: This was our first time doing this race. Pros: local, good swag, familiar bike course, good post race food, prompt awards Cons: rough roads, not enough volunteers on the run, communication The thing that made this race was our team. We had 30 team members racing with countless others volunteering and cheering. There were always people cheering, yelling your name or yelling FeXY. It was so amazing to have that much support on the course. Quite an amazing group of people we have and I feel lucky to be a part of it.

  • Comments: they really needed more sentries on the run. there were a few intersections that were unmanned and it become a matter of looking for the old, painted arrows. I know of a competitor who took a wrong turn, got lost and DNFed. this should not have happened. otherwise, great race.

  • Comments: After a rocky start (my packet had been given to the wrong person and wouldn't be available for me until race morning) I was really impressed with the organization of this all-volunteer organized (non-profit) race. As promised, one of the race organizers had my packet all ready when I arrived this morning, even with the correct size race premium that wasn't available when I had originally tried to pick up my packet. Even though this is a smaller race (and competed with the much larger Nations Tri on the same morning) it was extremely well-organized, executed and the volunteers were wonderful. There were a few places on the courses where there could have been additional volunteers directing racers but I understand how hard it is to find volunteers and the race organizers did a good job spreading them out as well as possible. The post-race food was some of the best I've had at a race. I will definitely do this race again next year.

  • Comments: over all a great race. i have already emailed them my suggestions for improvements. 1.) swag needs to be re-sized. i am so tired of getting cool stuff and having a small not be a small. 2.) get the results up the same day 3.)don't do the swim waves according to some secret formula 4.) ages on the calves other than those things, it was a great race. so nice having such a great course and great attendance in our own backyard.
