There was an ad for Mark Allen Online in the latest Triathlete Magazine--they had five or six AG podium finishes at Kona. you could be next! Let's just take it one step at a time. I'd have to get there first. Thanks to everybody for all the congratulations, etc. It means a lot. Congrats What are the criteria to get choosen for the elite team? Certain times or placings in events?
Basically, I submitted results from 2007 and a list of races for 2008 along with a paragraph about why I wanted to be on the team. The require that you participate in 5 races with 500+ people. From what I understand, the decision is based on past results, location, age, and gender. I think they want a pretty broad representation around the country and among the age groups.
I don't know, but I think it probably helped that I'm from Tennessee and not California, Florida, etc. and possibly that I'm only doing sprints and olys in 2008. In the end, who really knows how the decisions are made. I think I'm proof that you don't have to be crazy-fast (<2h oly, for example ) to be accepted. |
