FUN THREAD!! Favorite part about race day...

Besides the post race beer?

The pre race poop and the two strokes of butterfly to get moving.

The start.... everyone bunched together before the gun goes off.   Love it.   

Post-race FOOD!!!

Running down the finish chute - no matter how sh*tty my race was (which it usually is, at least with triathlon, less so with road running), that part is always awesome.

The end of the swim!

Arriving early to set up transition, and doing a mental walk through of the event.

Then actually swimming with the wave...

Finish line, especially with the very good announcer who does all of the races in our area.  He takes the time to shout-out something extra if time allows.  Very cool, on top of the feeling I can finally STOP.

My favorite part is that I live in a nation that allows me to do this sort of thing, and that I have the ability and desire to go out there and do it.

I was just thinking about "racing" yesterday on a training ride; I never really consider myself a "racer", like when you think automobile racer, ski racer, etc., but that's EXACTLY what we do when the horn sounds and the clock starts.  I guess I should adopt a "racing mentality" a little more often!

I think my favorite part has got to be all the support and cheering from all the spectators and fellow racers.  I train solo, so it is really rewarding to have people around to watch me do my thing on race day, especially when a friend or two manage to show up.  Sounds cheesy, but it kinda makes me feel like a pro-athlete or something to have people watching and cheering while I compete.

When I see the finish line and feel that little extra something in the gas tank.
