Subject: RE: Bad year for Long-Course Triathlon? You forgot Eagleman- it was only about 100 degrees with a heat index of say 110 on parts of the oven that was the run course when I was on it. rollinbones - 2008-08-03 2:33 PM IMLP weather was worse on our spectating families/friends and the volunteers than us. For most of the athletes that was the case. For those of us with a history of crashing in the rain before IMLP, not so. After my DNF due to the rain on the bike, I'll take Eagleman weather over rain on bike course. At IMLP, only 152 of us out of 2345 DNFd, for a rate of 6.48%, which was a lower percentage overall, and a lower absolute number than at IMLP 2007, when the weather was perfect for us. It all comes down to what weather conditions one does well in versus what weather conditions one does badly in. Some love the heat, others fall apart over 80 degrees. But after a string of bad weather for races (Columbia the last 2 years, Diamondman 2007, Eagleman 08, IMLP 08), I've got to be due some great weather next year right (knock on wood) ? |
