Subject: RE: How far in advance do you plan your training?Personally, I do not follow a "plan". When I trained for my ironman this year I looked at a number of plans, started low volume and added each week until I got to high volume. Of course I had no variation in intensity like most plans do but it got me through.
For instance, I am now training for a 50 k in February so my master plan is to do a couple runs during the week and a long run on the weekend, last weekend I did an hour forty minutes, next weekend I am going to up that and so on. I am sophisticated enough to scale back every 2 or 3 or 4 weeks for that infamous recovery time. However, this time I am going to try to through in some vo2 max, threshold, and interval training, which to me just means try to run faster than I normally do.
That all being said, I have race goals that go to 2011, so there defintly is a macroplan.
