Could be a euphemism....  But it's not.

The brits do it.  What say you?

As for me, I usually don't, but it tastes pretty good when I remember to use it.

Yup.  Learned it from an English girl on a dive boat in Australia in '99   Every brit that learns I do this is surprised, as it's not very "American"

I like it as well and get the same comment when I remember to do it.  However, I have switched to green, and for some reason, cream only goes with a nice british Earl Gray or similar.  Not so much with green.

I rarely do it when I make my own tea.  But if I'm enjoying a cup out someplace, and it's offered, I usually do.

Nope, not for me.  Just a nice steeped cup of Earl Grey with some sugar.  Occassionally if I'm sick, throw some lemon in it (like now .... bloody cold!!).

depends on what kind of tea. Use to drink tea with milk a lot as a kid.  Now I prefer tea with lemon.

Can't stand milk/cream/sugar in green tea.  Not even Chinese/Japanese black tea.  Nor any other oriental herbal tea.  Oriental tea must be plain.

Had a co-worker from Leicester for several years.

He introduced me, and I drink it this way.  Though with milk, not cream.

He also introduced me to Jaffa cakes (mcvitties of course), damn him!

Yeah, but depends on the tea. Green tea or herbal tea gets lemon and maybe some honey. Black teas, Earl Grey etc, I like with milk & sugar.

Never cream, always milk. And Jaffa cakes are fantastic, but they're no chocolate covered digestives.

Uh no, the Brits don't do cream in their tea...As the son of a brit I can say "only heathens would do this" I've never yet met an english person that puts cream in their tea!

black tea = milk (and maybe sugar) or lemon
green, herbal (including that nancy "earl grey" tea) just plain!

I use milk (and sugar) - I understand that the tannins in tea can curdle the cream, which would be nasty.

Me too. Mostly because tea with lemon is less caloric. For black tea, I like it with condensed milk or evaporated milk. Same with coffee.

Lest not forget, tea, a drink with jam and bread, with jam with jam with jam with jam and bread.

I drink it mainly with milk, learned this in Australia. To me it is less 'caloric', because you don't need to use much sugar. Still drink tea with lemon and honey/sugar, but to make it taste good I end up with more sugar. Green tea -  always without milk or lemon, just honey.

My grandmother was British and she used to put some milk and sugar on her black tea. Anything else was some lemon and maybe honey so that's what I now do.

I drink milk in my coffee and tea.  I don't like the oily-ness of cream - so I won't drink it in anything.  I also don't like whipped cream for the same reason.

yeah, but only if I am out. Same with coffee. At home, in the office, it is black. In a restaurant, I double double it.

You do know what double double means don't you?

Please say you do.

No kidding.  I was watching Frasier last night and Roz asked if he wanted any tea.  He said, "Yes, with milk, please."

I've never heard of this.  Then there's this thread today.  Oooooo.  Spooky.

I've got a pot of water boiling as I write this.  Will I go green or Earl Grey?  Will I use milk or not?  Somebody pick for me.
