Valentine's Day Gifts For The Non-Cynics

we've been married 11-years so not all that romantic.  She is getting...

- new Nike running outfit

- flowers

- nice dinner out without the kids

- and all I want is pizza

She's getting a card from me and the kids. 

She gets one froo froo restaurant a year and that's for our anniversary.  Last year, two dinner, dessert, 2 glasses of wine for her and a beer for me and it was about $105 after tip.  Yup, once a year.

Hubby is getting a fly fishing set up this year.  We bought one set up over the weekend with gift cards from xmas to get us started.  Since this is something we would like to do together, I decided to get the second one for him and picked it up yesterday.

He has it tougher, my birthday is Feb. 13th.  He bought tickets for the big blues event here in Houston Friday night for my birthday, so I will probably get a card for Valentine's day. He's pretty sweet throughout the year with flowers and things so it's no big deal for Valentine's day.

i'm taking my boyfriend to see a play that a friend of mine is in.  i wasn't planning on buying anything else.  i think he's taking me to dinner before hand.  oh, and i'm sure he'll probably be getting flowers, but it doesn't need to be a holiday for that.

i'm not a cynic at all, but i'm also not all about vday.

Saturday is my son's birthday so my wife and I will be having pizza (not pizza)

We usually get each other cards.

My love and a kiss as we depart Sat. morning going separate ways as we each take one of our older sons to their respective youth b-ball games that will be played in two different towns.  I'll take #3 son so she can watch the other son's game in its entirety without interruption.

Now, from the kids, a card, and some hugs.

My traditional V-Day gifts for my wife and daughters are books.

Spend a bit of time looking for just the right one, then instead of a card write something on the inside front cover.

I will most likely give Little Girl some glue, glitter, and pink/purple/red/white paper, let her go to town making Valentines for Gramma & Pop, Papa, etc. 

I actually don't care too much for the commercialization of the day, and therefore have no expectations.  I love sending Valentines out to everyone I know, one year it was a Valentine letter (instead of Christmas/New Year letter). 

I hope the oven is fixed so I can make pink cupcakes or a heart-shaped cake.  That's purt-near it though.

My birthday is the 13th too!  Poor J gets hit pretty hard at this time of year, but despite how many "outs" I've given him, he insists on celebrating both days separately, each with dinner out.  He says he has all year to budget and it's not like it's a surprise that they are right next to each other, so who am I to argue?  ;-)  Being with such a sweet guy is enough for me.
