I could use some help from my friends at BT.

I am feeling OK today, but am just starting to go through a rollercoaster of emotions.

I'm sure I'll have some days where I could use some encouragement, a good laugh, a place to vent, and  alot of prayer support.

Unfortunately (that's the word the dr used today) I found out that I have bladder cancer.  Not what I was hoping he would say...it may not be too bad, it's too early to know until I have some more procedures done.

I was training for IM CDA in 5 weeks, but am now scratching that and gearing up for a different struggle.

I won't let myself get on the defensive; instead I'm thinking this may give me time to buy a new tri bike to go with my new ZIPPs and will give me time to get ready for a different IM race.  (I'm already signed up for IMAZ'08).

On a more serious note, I am keeping this in perspective, and that means putting my training behind my health care.  I really hate to have to make that statement...

Anyhow, for all you believers, I'm huge on the power of prayer, and would appreciate if you would help in this regard.

Danny

You are certainly in my prayers!  You will be in my thoughts on race day, as well.

I am sure your fantastic physical condition puts you in a great position to attack the cancer.  All your training will serve you well!

Maybe God has different ideas about what He wants to do with your life. Sometimes we wake up and our direction in life has changed. At first it seems that we don't want or need to travel that way, and we want to do a full reversal back to where we are most comfortable. But we grow in our lives, our closeness to family, and spiritually by altering our course. You will be forever changed and altered in your new course, and by reading your logs and races here on BT, this WILL be a positive change. May God bless you, touch your heart and give you and your family peace. I will be constantly thinking and praying for you during the race and beyond.

dhyte:

Prayers are with you. I personally know what you are going through. (Colon Cancer). Surround yourself with family and friends, talk to people who are either going through it or have been treated, ask questions, and know that you have a lot of people praying for you. Look into support groups so that you can talk about it. At times it may seem like you are fighting a battle alone. You will have an army of people behind you to catch you when your spirits are low and support you when you are in need.

If you can't train because you are tired, at least stay active with your mind. Support your Fall Mentees, too. That will help you keep your find focused forward.

For me, I was a stubborn $%$#%$. I told the docs that they had so many months to get me up on my feet again. I told them I was going to start training in Feb. 2007 for Vineman 70.3 (my first!). I finished treatments about 6 weeks ago and did Wildflower (Oly) the first week of May 2007. I'm actively training for Vineman (7/2007) now and gaining strength every day.

Forward thinking my man! Forward thinking! Again, my prayers are with you.

(If you need any help with your Mentoring Group, let me know)

Danny-

My heart aches for you and your family.  If you have read my blog over the last several months you would see the rolller coaster I have been on while my dad battles lung cancer.  Please know that I will add you to my prayer list, as well as hold you up in my men's group that meets Friday mornings.  Prayer has been a tremendous outlet while we have struggled with my dad and I can only hope you understand that God is not punishing you, but rather has much bigger things in mind for you.  Do not try to go this alone, get with family, friends and whomever you want to trust.  Share you fears and let folks help you.  Take care.

Good luck in your fight...  You're in my prayers...

Stay strong and don't give up on your training totally - sometimes it can have tremendous healing and strengthening effects...

I've been battling a few personal health issues (obviously not as serious as yours) but my  mother gave me this prayer to aid in healing... I'll try and attach it to this post... hope it helps..

If you don't mind, Dan, what spurred you to go to the doctor? Specific symptoms?

I've had two serious health issues in the past few weeks/months...

diverticulitis and an inflamed prostate (prostatitis) and when I visited the doctor regarding the prostate problem he mentioned that if a few more symptoms were present at the most extreme you could be talking bladder cancer but his final diagnosis was prostatitis... of course once he said the "c" word now he's got me thinking about it every day...

could he have missed something? should I push him to investigate further?

how did you find out? if you'd rather PM me that'd be fine... whatever you're comfortable with...

Take care...
